Just sitting around enjoying our Sunday morning. I had a couple Duracells laying on the China cabinet I had removed from the TV remote yesterday. BANG It sounded like a fire cracker… After a bit of investigation I found this….
It wasnt touching anything, it just popped. Anyone ever have this happen??
“Alkapop” or “Alkabang” just doesn’t have the same ring to it that “Alkaleak” does. 0:) Was this one of those low-cost made-in-china Duracells, or an American-made one?
Duracell and Energizer are good about covering damage from cells as long as they are not expired. You should give them a call. Never know, they may send you a coupon for free cells
I understand Duracell is now adding just a touch of Lithium in their cells, to give them some "Zing"... Popity, Pop, Pop.
Wait a minute, Made in China and you put it on the China Cabinet? Oh, man, that's why. Certainly it's understandable now. Is was a Chinese holiday of some kind and the cell was "cellebrating".
Give them a call, I had a Duracell leak and swell so much that it got terminally stuck inside a 2AA Maglite. They answered the email within an hour, wanted to know the expiry date and I think the batch number (I still had the original packaging), they asked how much it cost for the Maglite and gave me a freephone number to call, within an hour I had the money in my account. Best customer service ever.
So do call or email them.
My experience strongly differs.
I had my Fenix TK41 U2 destroyed by leaking Duracell cells which were in date, to which, I provided one battery from the pack as proof of said leakage and they refused to honour their supposed warranty.
I can not strongly enough stress that they (along with any other Proctor & Gamble company) should be avoided at all costs.
