I’ve wanted to put together a stealty magnetic control ring mag for quite some time, just couldn’t figure out how until now.

I wish I am working in Maglite R&D dept., it’ll be so much fun. I could totally see something like this being offered to the public at reasonably low cost. It’ll probably trigger the biggest patent war in flashlight history, Maglite vs. Surefire.

In the end, I’ll probably be homeless if not behind bars. At least, I’ll be go down with a flame & can always blame CPF that turned me into a flashholic, the worst addiction in any given hobby…

-Mag 2C being cut down to 1C.

-Stealthy looking, a wolf under sheep’s skin

-Magnetic control ring is sealed & rotate outside the body

-Seals better than OE due to elimination of clicky boot, the weakest link, all together

-Instant access to Hi to one direction & instant access to SOS to the other direction

–3 mode Hi/Med/Lo on one direction, two blinky mode to the other direction

-Tasteful Teardrop separator between modes

-One does not need to go through blinky to access Hi/med/lo, but it’s there when you need it

-Total 360 rotation to go through all 5 modes also possible

-Nichia 92CRI 219 Netual led

-Mag Rebel SMO reflector

-Built-in black Alu battery spacer for 18650

-Recessed spring for shorter length

–3hr run time on high with high capacity 3400mah 18650

The limitation is the magnetic control ring & driver assembly.

Hopefully, such parts will become available some day & one can pick & choose current
But I doubt it, since Surefire started suing others on patent infringement regarding to magnetic switch ring use in a flashlight.

Very nice indeed. Great looking light ma_sha1. Sounds like a good balance between power and runtime too. Love magnetic control rings, and yours looks better than any I have yet seen. Mmmmm mmm

Beautifully executed! I don't think I've seen anyone pull off something like that before and do it with such good looks!

Wonderful in real life use I'd guess. And I totally agree that you should be in the Mag research labs. Lord knows they'd have their offerings updated in less than 12 months and start putting real gems in the hands of ordinary people who would just be "Wow"'ed.

You might be right about the patent issue though - although I never understood why a simple hall switch or array thereof can be patented because it is in a flashlight? Sometimes I wonder about these things.

But thank you for sharing these pictures. Its a real beauty.
