EagleTac has released a series of compact lights with different battery combinations. All are XP-G S2 LED's. Black tubes with a shiny bezel and a solid looking clip. Interesting UI that I like a lot. It's basically a 3-mode twisty with memory. Low-Medium-High. But the first 90 seconds of High is a turbo mode that is brighter and then drops off 20%. The new Quark X lights do this too, I guess to keep from overheating. A cynic might say this is done to artificially inflate their ANSI numbers which are taken in the first 90 seconds without overheating the light and also giving it longer runtime.
But there are also a bunch of hidden flashy modes which you can get to by cycling through the 3 modes (4 modes for the 2xCR123A models) twice. Low is 3 lumens on all of them which is about right for me. High ranges from 86 for the 1xAA to 176 for the 2xAA and 1xCR123A and 295 ANSI lumens for the 2xCR123A. I'll still wait for reviews, but this seems pretty cool.
Ive got the D25A2 and its an awesome light. I just purchased a backup today. For everything you get, its probably one of the best deals out there. I love the slim profile and the stainless head looks classy. I usually dont buy eagletac lights because im not into the whole "tactical" look, or whatever you want to call it. They just looked too aggressive, but this line does just the opposite.
I liked that jetbeam put out a "budget" line but none of the lights ever tickled my fancy. They looked far too basic. Im thoroughly enjoying eagletacs foray into the budget world
those are gorgeous looking lights and perhaps a good call on eagletac's part. Lights with clean simple knurled compact design and nice battery options and awesome pocket clips are hot sellers. tempting. why oh why am I a poor student :(
I bought mine from illuminationgear.com and their service was the best. The prices are the lowest while the international shipping is only $7.5. Also there is 8% discount if you state you are from CPF and your nickname.
