Eagletac’s S25L-R is a fully tactically interfaced light with a kit version that comes with a few frills.
This light has excellent throw and features the deepest, widest reflector I’ve seen on any of the newer single cell XHP35 type lights.
Some of you I’m sure are familiar with Eagletac’s, and other brand’s head twist interface for mode switching. While not for everyone, it definitely achieves it’s purpose of simplifying mode switching for practicality in hazardous or otherwise difficult situations where the last thing on one’s mind is working little buttons. That said, I likely wouldn’t want to keep the light in it’s low mode (twist loosened furthest mode) and carry the light around over time. When the head is loosened up this much it can wobble a tiny bit and simply “feels off”. However, simply keeping it in it’s highest mode at turn on eliminates the concern for me personally.
This light did very well in maintaining it’s highest output all the way down to 3.0V using the included 3,500 Eagletac branded, protected 18650GA. That said, the S25L-R requires button top cells so obviously is not dual spring for both - and , but rather features a slightly recessed contact plate at the end. The light works ok for me when using neodymium magnets on the + end to achieve contact.
The beam is very throwy as you will see in the video. I did however notice a little bit of extra spill outside of the spill area, which I think may indicate that the LED is not perfectly centered.
Built in charging is .9Amps which is perfect (imo) for single 18650s. The light uses the newest USB type C interface which is more stable at the connections than micro USB. USB type C is also bi-directional at the plug-in contact which is again an improvement over micro USB.
This is a long one as I do a lot of lumen testing and runtime testing but their may be some good info for some of you. Beam shots are towards the end of the video.
