A long way. I live near an airport, so I would be hard indeed.
But secondly, my goal is to do what others on YT don’t do by showing real, applicable beam shots that actually look like what you see in real life. I see these flashaholics who dim the exposure and go to the woods, but you don’t get a good idea of what the beam actually looks like. In fact, most look terrible. I believe mine are effective at conveying what a beam shot looks like.
I realize you do the best you can for where you live.
For me to see what a true beam looks like is when there’s very little if any light pollution. Fortunately where I live I get that every time I go hiking. Few years ago I had videos on here and they’re still on youtube. I’m using my phone so it’s actually not as bright as it is in real life.
Because total darkness is deceiving for brightness. The ability for a light to “compete” with other manmade light can be helpful. I like both. But absolute darkness isn’t helpful because the darkness masks just how useful illumination can be.
