EASTWARD YJ-XCQ5

I’m making a thread on this light not because it’s great or terrible, but because it’s interesting. It has a very strange design in my opinion.

The tail switch pcb had a resistor on it, I’m really not sure why.

The entire light is built very heavy. I took a picture of the switch retaining ring because its a ridiculously large chunk of solid brass. The battery tube walls are 2.75mm thick.

The reflector has the thickest aluminum walls I’ve seen, but annoyingly, it’s a drop-in.

This light is getting an XHP50, so I’m gonna have to find a way to improve thermal path.

Here is the listing on KD, I got it on “clearance” with a defective driver for about $12

I have this light from EastwardXJ. The tail switch pcb also has a resistor on it, this is how the two modes are realized in it together with an on-on-off switch, at least that’s how I think it works. It looks like yours has the exact same tailcap.

Strange. It does have a driver in the pill, I wonder why they didn’t just use that for modes.

Yep, that’s strange, mine has a driver as well. There was also a 5-mode version of it, that had no resistor at the tail.
