Ebay $1,200 copper light

Found this scrolling through ebay. Very cool light but also very pricey.

That one or one “simələr” has been listed several times. Guess the price & 1 feedback rating is enough to scare the average $1200 flashlight buyer off. :stuck_out_tongue:

For super much fun, stack flashlights by price Highest to lowest on Ebay. :davie:

i think the actual heat shedding would not be good, i assume copper has poor emissivity, but it should get the heat from the led to the body very quickly

He/she might be able to make a FL but i’ll bet it’s an ultracrap batt in that thing
5600mah
Really !.
The highest i’ve seen is an 18650, 3600mah.

I never like it when I have to follow a link to see what a post is about, so :

It's got some heft, 1182grams

so what makes this kind of thing so expensive?

a fool and his money…

Plastic lenses scratch easily, but perhaps they chose it to save some weight .

How about this :

Geez

No listing of what size the battery or batteries are, it could house 2. It is a pretty light but I want to see the inside, SST-50 is getting a little old school.

It’s in the description just after the
“LED: Luminus SST-50 5700k”
*
“Battery: Protected rechargeable high density lithium ion battery (3.7V, 5600mA)”
*
It’s not saying batteries like there’s more than one, just “battery”. And it does look alittle small for 2 batteries.
*
Edit,
i suppose you could sqeeze two 2800 mah batteries into 1.675”

Yep and the side wall would be 3mm, which is a good thickness.

Trick they use when out of stock?

does it at least produce a light saber beam for that price?

Well, Alloy Lights is a real [apparently] company.

I will grant that the pics look great but w/o build shots no idea how well made the lights are. The 1.8 model is their EDC light but for the $$ I’d buy a Malkoff or a SureFire.

OTOH, the 3.1 at over 1 kilogram isn’t pocketable. I supose if you can afford one you could afford the luxury of haveing a servant carry it for you….

Pics look great, but it’s way way way overpriced. Definitely not the kind of thing even most flashaholics would be interested in.

The choice of emitter looks a bit odd. SST-50 is an old emitter… much less efficient than XM-L2. And 5700k is a bit on the cool side for most flashaholics.

Well, technically an 18650 is a cell not a battery. Two installed could constitute a 1s2p battery.

Maybe he's an authorized dealer on a forum that charges dealers to list items, and he's only sold 1 so far.

You mean that 1 feedback?
