Emisar D4: swapping optics for more flood

Love my little Emisar D4 Nichia with 18350 tube. But I really wanted a ‘wall of light’ for indoor use, so I ordered the Carclo 10623 frosted optic 25.9 degree beam, and a 10624 with 40.3 degree beam. (Would have been much cheaper to initially specify the 10623 when I ordered from intl-outdoor, instead of buying the optics from a UK/EU supplier.)

The D4 opens up easily, and the 10622 clear optic pops out. I have a more recent D4 with screws holding the MCPCB in place, so the MCPCB does not move when the bezel is rotated. I had to cut off two of the legs on the optic because the screws are in the way. I used nail clippers. Clip-Clip!

It’s not dark here yet, so I was waiting for later. But I just closed curtains in bedroom and took some shots on white ceiling. Head of torch about 40cm away from ceiling.

Left to right: clear 10622; frosted 10623 ; frosted 10624

I hope I haven’t mixed up the optics, but there’s not much difference between the frosted ones. (Also, on first set of shots I took, 10623 looked more floody — I used my Galaxy S4 camera… so YMMV)

YMMV on uncalibrated monitors for tint. Shouldn’t be problem for beam shots. Thanks for the photos!

Nice. I bought the 10623 and have been wondering about the 10624. But for my casual uses, it’s floody enough!
