“I added a PVC sleeve for use with the 14500 battery. You will need an Efest or other IMR 14500 to get 2800mA on high.”
Would be so kind as to give me what you think would be a fair price on this type of battery. I found them around $5.35 each for a 700mAh. I have never bought any before. Also, the battery I find shows 700mAh. Am I reading your statement wrong? Should I be looking for a 2800mA?
A link to what & where would be outstanding. Thank you for helping the new guy.
Btw, Not to sound too cheesy, but I am pumped about getting this light.
its not related to capacity. Imr batteries can discharge at higher current and they maintain decent voltage during high current draw.
If ur battery 700mah, then u will get 700/2800=0.25 hour runtime theoritically. Normally imr cells have lower capacity than regular cells.
I get my Efest IMR from ebay. Just do an ebay search for " Efest 14500 " and select USA only and you will get the results. My price would be the same as their price.
I just found out about them this morning. lol I signed up and will make future purchases with them. From what I read, they have good customer service too.
These but they aren’t Keeppower, thought they were when I saw them because of the black color. Think they use the same protection circuit as KP, probably made by KP and unbradded. But I could be wrong, just guessing.
My little boy has what looks to be the same light, his grandpa bought it for him up in Idaho at a Costco or an athletic store, can’t remember. It’s a TechLite called a Lumen Master, with a smooth reflector and what looks to be an XR-E emitter. The tail cap is clear and blinks red when the battery is down. Glows solid red for a few seconds when a fresh cell is put in. It’s surprisingly bright, with very nice throw. Reviews say they’re crap, but Daniel got his when he was 3 going on 4 and he’s now 6. The ano is wearing off, it’s got a few dents, but is going strong.
I put a copper sleeve in it to assist heat dispersion and run an 18500 Protected cell. He was going through those 3 AAA waaaay too fast.
If it’s the same little light as his, it’s a good light.
I use 3/4-inch plastic irrigation pipe, $0.40/ft at Ace Hardware. It comes coiled, but in very short lengths the curvature isn't a problem. Cut to length, slit lengthwise removing as much as you need to allow it to tighten around the cell. Great stuff. I used 2 pieces, 1 slit and cut down for AA diameter inside an un-slit length to make an adapter to use 3 Duraloops in place of the 3 C-cells in a DST. Working amazingly well while I'm waiting for a deal on Tenergy C's. It's a soft plastic so it doesn't rattle like those PVC sleeves plus it's very cheap and you can buy as little as one foot.
