Agreed. I’m not at all blaming freeme. If Gearbest wants me to send it back, that’s not going to happen. I’ll just give mine to a friend who will probably not care about the slight flicker problem. I can’t live with it.

It’s that “something in the stomach” feeling when I received a not so working item.

I hear ya. This is the second defective flashlight I purchased this year., both on group buys. The first was a Klarus Mi7. I ended up giving that one away because it did work, just not on turbo.

I think it was a bit of sarcastic humour from hIKARInoob, but i agree it’s not PWM at all.

Yes, thank you. Flickering = no good.

Anyway, I decided to give it to one of my non-flashlight friends instead of hassling with Gearbest. I even gave him a Rosewill (newegg brand) USB charger with it. I told him about the flickering, but he didn’t seem to care. He’ll be using it when he works on his lathe machining small parts.

Time to take a ‘flower shower’. Go to a temple and ask the caretaker for leftover flowers offered as prayers. Bring them back and mix with water, pour the water mix from head to toe to wash away bad luck. Do not touch ‘used’ flowers, or you will pick up the bad luck again. Clear away with anything other than touching them. Good luck……

It’s an old chinese superstition. But it feels good after…ready to take on the world again.

Indeed, there are some QC issues with HR20. My unit suffered from adjustment dial problem. My dial somehow stiffen up when it is rotated past 65%-100% output range. I spent few days last week, explaining and making video for our vendor and headlamp supplier. I didn't report it immediately as I assumed it was an isolated case, because I have received mostly praise for HR20 than complain. I will update you guy if there is any further developments later.

I would like to ask those buyers with flickering HR20. Is the flickering 1) persistent throughout the levels, 2) only happen during rotation,or 3) intermittent?

I think I’ll just drink till I get fall down drunk. Then when I end up praying to the porcelain god, I’ll say ” the flickering wasn’t really that bad”

Mine happens when the dial is on about the last 1/3 position towards the low setting.

On mine it only happens during rotation.

Interested

thanks

Very interested!

Thank you for the coupon! I ordered one piece.

i would be interested if this is still available thanks

I got mine. There is some flickering, but worse is that the rotary dial is sticky. It turns freely for part of the travel, but gets difficult to turn somewhere in the middle of the travel, and then turns more freely after you get past the sticky section.

It’s so difficult to turn the dial in the sticky section that I have to use two hands, or sometimes use my fingernail in the ridges of the rotary dial to turn it.

I haven’t had time to try to take it apart to see if I can lube the stickiness out. If anyone has done this, let me know please.

Otherwise, a very brief comparison to the XTAR H3 Warboy, which is my favourite headlamp at the moment:

  • The XTAR’s beam is smoother and wider, with a more gradual transition from spill to darkness.
  • The Imalent’s beam has a much more pronounced hot spot, and is significantly brighter in the hot spot than the XTAR.
  • The Imalent’s rubber mount is a bit too loose. You can adjust the headlamp’s aim easily, which is good, but I think if you’re doing something active like jogging, hiking, etc, the aim might change when you don’t want it to.
  • For headlamps with this kind of shape, I normally position the switch on the left side of my head. If you do that with this Imalent, rotating the dial “up” makes the light output go down. So I reversed the light so that the switch is on the right side of my head.

Overall I prefer the XTAR to the Imalent, and I like the XTAR’s beam profile better, but if the Imalent’s mount were tighter, and the sticky dial can be fixed, and if the flickering seldom occurs, I’d like the Imalent better in some situations, like walking the dogs on a long straight trail.

got mine, also flickers on mode change. Flickers once you stop changing modes. But on higher modes it does not seem to flicker. Too bad ill be using mostly lower modes under 50% which is where the flicker is constant.
See video below. On videos its not present as much as I see with my eyes, must be the frame rate.

Looks pretty bad on video too…

not sure why you guys getting bad flickering.

I ordered 3 lights on separate occasions and non have flickering.
