Since this is a “light” forum, seems the aurora should count. NOAA has new experimental dashboard that is pretty cool. It provides graphic predictions of current aurora activity as well as a bunch of additional information about the Northern Lights.

We’ve been trying to see them but the weather is not cooperating . Everytime they are around it has been cloudy. Haven’t seen them since we were young.
We used to see them all the time but almost never in the last 20+ years. The north magnetic pole has been shifting away from us, towards Siberia, at around 30 miles per year. So in 20 years it would the equivalent of 600 miles farther south back in the day.
My friends back home in Manitoba had a great spring with some truly grand displays of the aurora borealis playing for them. It has been wuite a while since I’ve seen them live. Their photos were great to see.
We’ve had some nice displays here in NE Washington in the last year but for one reason or another, I’ve missed out on them. I’ve read that the solar flare cycle is on the upswing and the viewings should become more frequent.
I live just south of London UK, so combination of latitude and light pollution, means it’s pretty much impossible; same goes with stars, only the brightest are visible, sad.
That said, I worked in the Yukon a while ago and saw some spectacular aurora displays.
Seeing it in lower Kentucky.
The sun just burped up a loogie. Wasn’t supposed to be able to see it without a camera but naked eye views were awesome.

I live in Cumbria, an area of the UK with more sheep than people, so we get good dark skies with no light pollution. I’ve seen the aurora a couple of times and last year got to see Steve, I loved it.
