I was passing the battery display in Walmart and out of curiosity stopped to see if they had any Duraloops, no the new 'Ion core' have black tops. But I noticed white tops on the Eveready NiMH's in their new 'Smart charger". Forgive the mediocre cellphone photos.

Yes, same as with the former Duraloops, there are black top cells made in China and white top cells made in Japan where the white tops are a registered trademark, so there can be only one manufacturer.

Note that the Eveready Economy charger still has the black top cells, at least on this one display. Check before purchase.

Duraloop is dead, long live the Everloop!

Energizer don’t use eneloop batteries, they have their own brand as far as i’m aware.

i suspect these are meant to compete with the rayovac and other economy 1400 ish mah cells.
one of the guys at the shop got some and they appear to be oem by sanyo.
havnt run them through the maha c9000 yet……

The Durcell Ion Core’s are made in Japan (as written on the body of the cells on the one I have).

Do they have white tops? Any company can make them with black tops.

The 1400mah makes me think they aren't eneloops but maybe sony lites ?? Doesn't sony have a lesser cell kicking around .

I doubt sanyo has a patent on a white plastic ring

May be these are new duroloops I have seen in a local tech store. It says 5 years time on package.

Errrm, yep, they’re duraloops, it actualy says they Are! below the rechargable writing. And possibly gen3 or 4 too, which is even better for the average shopper now we know they could be releasing g3 or 4 as duraloops. Thanks fyesilova

I’ve just noticed that pack says they are 2400mah, so they are possibly the black XX eneloops, not just the white eneloops at 1900mah.

This Amazon reviewer believes that they are XX Eneloops. From reading his reviews on other electrical products (especially batteries) he appears to be an extremely knowledgeable tester.

Interesting, but no proof. Maybe some could be sent to HKJ and do a comparison under Load... and then a comparison with Discharge, these are more important!!

In Japan, Fuji film is selling eneloop lookalikes, and all dimensions and weight are the same, even specs look identical, but testing them under Load you will see a difference.

Probably discharge rate could be different as well.

ChibiM, duracell wouldn’t put “duraloop” on their packs if it was not duraloop cells inside, that would be false advertisment and would leave them open to being sued and fined by Everyone, and being a worldwide company and well known brand that would be bad business, so it’s pretty much a certainty they have rewraped an eneloop to use for/as their own cells.

I don't think they would put duraloop on their packs in any case, it's forum slang. I think the word in the photo is Duralock, their buzzword for LSD.

Yes It is duralock on the package.
I do not think they will write duraloop on package, and they may change their supplier in future, and that duralock may be written on them too.
