Facebook & Google+ are a threat?

I noticed that Thrunite has added a Forum to their USA website store, not much activity so far. It appears to be quite simular in appearance to the BLF forums (minus a few thousand members).

Also, Foursevens has established a “Flashlights Community” on Google. I have to admit that it is a pleasant change from the normal archaic forum software sites. I really like this because I logon the my Google account daily, and checking posts on the “Flashlight Community” is so easy.

Both Facebook and Google+ have Group functions now. I would think we will see more “Common Interest Groups” in the future.

Could this be the end to sites like BLF?

No. I seriously doubt it, those sites aren't advanced enough to handle a real forum.

I prefer a forum thats being controlled by some nutsack (meant in a positive way) instead of a company that is trying to make money. Thats why I dont participate in Greta Inc. ;)

no way I want facebook instead of SB for moderator…

How do I get in the flashlight community on google+ ?
I have google+ on iPhone but find I don’t get much use as I don’t know what I’m doing lol

I don’t know how “nutsack” could ever be meant in a positive way. Must be a language barrier thing. In America, calling someone a “nutsack” is an insult 100% of the time with no exceptions.

You Germans are a bunch of nutsacks! LOL!

Not sure this will work, try this link

Are Facebook (and Google+) a threat? In terms of future personalized marketing, information gathering, statistics, personal information leakage, copyrights on pictures… etc…etc. YES!
A threat for this forum? NO!

Well, at least he didn’t call SB tacticool!I think that is an instant banned for life offence!

yes, definitely a derogatory term, though the non-slang word might be even more offensive lol

You better throw us Aussies in with the Germans then … thats not even close to getting offensive … you Americans need to lighten up haha

Although i must agree we do have a bit of tendency here to constantly fling insults at those we respect the most  … you should always be worried when an aussie start being overly nice to you >)

What is this Facebook thing you all speak of?

(I work in IT but don’t do social media. It’s my default response whenever FB is mentioned)

One thing I don’t like about facebook & google+ is the privacy. Facebook co-founder often brags about getting info from people even without asking for it. Seriously some people like publish their whole highschool yearbook on FB.

Friends off Google+ & Facebook can always snoop into what you are doing, what pictures, what topics u like etc. Like how Google ads are directed by your searchs. Or how spam emails are directed to you after some, ‘keywords you typed’ or something you bought with your credit card. Also for content like Google+ I don’t like it in a way I don’t like stumbleupon.com. Don’t get me wrong they are good surfing and random website suggestions, I do enjoy. But having a company that can misled or direct you to other things. It’s just some form of better SPAM.

Just because you watched some random youtube video it recommends like 50 similar videos you may or may not like sometimes bugs me. One of my friend always snoops up on me on google+ and I get like some of the most random friend or adds on there, with like 0 things in common, soley on some of my keywords or topics I enjoy.

As for the end of BLF? We do have a BLF facebook page & I’m sure we could create a google+ page also.

Google wants to control the world, just like all other evil madmen have. It's the big banks behind it. They want world domination and suppression, by making us think we have freedom.YellLaughing

At least Google give us some toys in payment for our freedom. While they have many faults they also have some of the best services out there and even I use a few of them. That said I run adblock+ and NoScript and have all google tracking disabled in FireFox. If I want to use Google for anything then I fire up Chrome. Keeps my exposure limited to the sort of junk I really don’t care about.

Thanks FDr, I found it.

Because rather than just focus on one word/part of a statement … i take take the whole sentence “in context”.

And if the original statement had been directed at me … i’d take it as a compliment

Heheheh.

Nutsack.

Hehehehe.

I wouldn't trade 24 hours a day on Google, Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo, Nohoo, Yourface, Anyface, ,,,, All of them combined for a 15 minute visit to BLF! This is the finest!

Dan.
