Fake Ultrafires

http://www.ultrafire-shop.net/page3.php

Apparently there are a lot of fake Ultrafires out there. I think I may bought some because I got UFs from several of these sites.

It’s interesting to me because my first UF impressed me due to it’s high quality. After getting several more, I noticed some were cheaply made and weren’t anything special.

I wonder if real Ultrafires are of higher quality than typical Chinese lights. My UF-H2 and UF-H3 seem to be great quality. My UF C8 from DD was crap.

I’m glad the UltraFire UF-T70 were never faked as far as I know. It’s an amazing light inside and out. Perhaps if it remained popular long enough, someone would have tried to produce them cheaper.

It would be nice if they let us know how to tell the difference, rather than giving us a list of, practically everyone.

that site doesn’t look so official

It might be the real UltraFire they sell, but they are worse than some fake UltraFire. I have compared a couple of UltraFire batteries.

1. Never buy Ultrafire batteries.

That shop is indeed official, confirmed by Ultrafire. But their fake list isnt totally correct, for example kaidomain sells genuine lights. Its all a little complicated with the chinese guys..

I’m sort of thinking there may be no such thing as a genuine Ultrafire! If there is, it’s buried under such a mountain of fakes you’d never know which was which. I have a half dozen from as many sources and I have no idea which, if any, are genuine. All but two are distinctly different enough to assure me they are not from the same factory. And all are just o.k. Useable, and worth what I paid for them, but far from ‘premium’. If one crapped out, I wouldn’t weep - I’d just toss it in the scrap/parts bin and reach for another one.

You may be right with that there is no “real” one.

Don’t remember where but i was told/read that UltraFire is a quiet complicated case.
It’s not a manufacturer - it’s a brand name. They designed the lights
and the manufacturing was done with several contractors - therefor the first quality diferences

On top of that being a Copycat there Brandname never was registered and therefor everyone
that could manufacture a more or less functioning light jumped on the wagon and printed Ultrafire on it.

I think thats the reason why some call it chinese roulette

With batteries it seems to be even worse. It seemed that they “reused” cells taken from i.e. Laptop-battery-surplus and relabeled them. Probably they had even a quality control in the beginning.
Then again anyone jumped on this wagon and while battery relabeling is a chimps-job it seems that measuring/controling the quality of the cell isn’t

In my humble opinion chinese roulette with the light can be rewarding
but batterys = no thanks

LOL - Thinking about it where else could you get some thorough information about a small chinese
flashlight manufacturer - it had to be here on BLF.

Clear as mud now. Lol!

If Ultrafire really does make better quality lights (and I believe they may), they should just change their name and start over.

My UF H2 and H3 were of pretty high quality and I think they were ‘real’ Ultrafires. What that means I am not really sure. That’s my point, Ultrafire has no real name brand meaning. They are not a premium brand yet I have heard from people in china who know the Flashlight biz that real Ultrafires are indeed better quality than the other “fires”.

I don’t pretend to understand how business works in china. Apparently they not only rip off American and European products by they copy and steal from each other as well.

There is a point where you can literally be buying a copy of a copy of a copy. It makes my head hurt.
