One torch user is suggesting the smaller 44mm head 750 lumen Fandyfire C8 throws as well if not better than 62mm head 1000 lumen Maxtoch SN6X-2/Skyray STL-V2/FF. And that doesn’t sound right for XML setups.
No way! I have both a C8 and a V2 large-reflector thrower, and even though the C8 is a VERY nice and throwy light, the V2 stomps it to the ground! Sadly, I don’t have a good area to take beamshots; maybe ILIKEFLASHLIGHTS has as comparison on one of his threads here…
hey i like flashlights, is it true that you can remove the head from the stl v2 and install it onto the keygos ke5 body so that the stl v2 can run on only 1x18650
weird…the ke-5 and ultrafire/trustfire C8 bodies will fit my uniquefire uf-v2…would have thought they were the same threading as the FF and skyray variants…
If you get a cree Xr-e c8 or MRV clone, it would be competitive with the v2 for throw It would also cost less. At long distance, the larger hotspot of the xml wouldn’t matter as much.
The voltage would be too little even if the threads would match. But 2x18350 should work well in shorty mode. (or then you could do a driver swap for 1x18650 usage)
I run 2x18350’s in it in shorty mode…my uf-v2 also pulls 2.2a with 1x18650…it’s pretty bright with one 18650 and not really noticeable vs 2 cells with the human eye…I always run the higher voltage though, but keep 18650’s as spares…
hey pounder, where did you get your uf v2. sounds like a great idea to run it with 1x18650. so since you say you can barely notice a diff. in brightness, it throws just as far too right?
well man…i’m talking eye difference…and no I cannot notice a difference between 1 18650 and 2 18650’s…this is done one right after another…there is no doubt a difference though as 2 18650’s will produce 3.2a tailcap readings…2.2 vs 3.2 is a difference…I got this uf-v2 when dino direct sent me a uniquefire instead of a skyray stl-v2…this uf-v2 is an amazing light for what I paid and I use it all the time as a massive thrower…there’s no doubt this light does 50k lux…just this last weekend camping I used it to spot deer in a field and I would not have been able to do this otherwise…my daughter was the one wielding it at the time…memories that these lights allow us to have…here is a pic of that night…camera phone does not do the deer justice but it was plainly visible…amazing night…
The gold MarsFire version works with the KE-5 body and seems just as bright on one 18650, at least mine was until the driver broke loose. Other brands might have different drivers. I think the MarsFire driver is a bit under spec. The wiring looks pretty thin.
I wonder if some of the KE-5 bodies, or STL-V2’s, have different threads?
IIRC, there is a pic on the forum somewhere of a shorty version with a C8 body, I can’t recall what brand though. AFAIK KE-5 and C8 should be interchangeable?
