Fandyfire HD2010

I recently received one of these from lightcastle. It’s a nice flashlight, no blemishs or anything. My problem? It’s just not bright at all. One weird thing a have noticed. The strobe mode is about 5x brighter than the high mode. No sure what to do with it. Do they make after market drop ins for these lights?

I don’t think so, I’m sure it would be a driver change.

People who bought the fandyfire hd2010 from fast tech have been having the same problem. High mode was coming in around 800ma.
they apparently tested all their stock with the same results. Looks like this problem is farther reaching then first thought

You need one of these in there.

I don't think anyone should be buying an HD2010 for a while. Put your money towards a proven light like the STL-V6.

I'm not sure what has happened but the lights being produced now are not the same animals that were produced 6+ months ago.

I repeat, save your money, there have been way to many poor quality HD2010s recently.

What about this TangsFire one from TMart? Anyone have this? I have the other grey one they list, which is OK, but my emitter wasn’t centered (white centering spacer is cut wrong). The TangsFire has a black spacer.
I’m probably going to order it anyway with the coupon that ends tomorrow, just thought I’d ask if there is any experience with it.

They were good a bit back……

Tbh, the high output ones all seemed to cone from t-mart/manafont I think.

The new dealers we’re seeing don’t seem to have any, not sure why.

I got the unmarked gray one from TMart. Seems just like the original ultrafire, direct drive on hi, always comes on in hi and white plastic centering insulator vs paper of other models.

What is the 18650 sleeve made out of? Is the knurling rough?

That’s the one I have, knurling is nice and grippy, the sleeve is a cut off piece of white PVC pipe. I use a soft foam wrap on mine instead; no rattle.
Edit: I ordered the very similar looking Tangsfire one from Tmart. I’m hoping for a better centered emitter. Whichever one is better gets the XM-L2 on copper treatment.

Would it matter which battery is being used?? 18650 or 26650?

Depends on the cell, a good imr18650 should easily give 5a, the cell in your m10 can easily give 4a as an example.

Given everyone seems to be having issues recently, I think it’s more likely a bad batch of drivers than everyone using bad cells tbh.

Prolly right… Seems strange the strobe is so bright but high is meh….

That also suggests a driver issue over a cell issue, the powers there, it just don’t wannit. :expressionless:

Might have a extra patient in your care package… Lol

Dale, I’d be careful with 26650 cells. I put a relatively weak one in my HD2010 and measured 6.3A at the tailcap! If I didn’t think to do this first, I probably would have left it on, be amazed with the brightness, and end up watching the emitter go poof. I’m not sure that will happen with the poorly driven one, but the DD ones from Tmart and Manafont probably will burn up. My brand new Sanyo 2800s go up to 5.5A. I use a laptop pull in my HD2010 and it gives 4.5A on high. Bright enough for me; until I can find an XM-L2 to stick in there

Hmmmm….the shopping list increases….lol.

Reflectors have shipped. Any clues on the mystery charges or is there no rush on these? Just trying figure out what I need to stock up on vs what I already have, I guess i’m going to have to break down and order some p60 pills if that m10’s coming, although I have got a solution that’d see our little friend in there……

2 for you, 2 for me…. LOL…. Think that Xm-L2 U2 1C would fit in a HD2010?

I could fit one, once ordered, I’ve not got any xm-l2 u2’s at the moment, I must try and get some sink pads too, make the most of the xm-l2’s. I’ve also found the xm-l2 won’t draw the mega current the xm-l’s will, I think tom e found the same.

The xm-l2 is pretty much a drop in replacement for xm-l so fitting’s not the issue, acquisition is.

I may as well wait till I know what I’m looking at before ordering (plus I need pay day to arrive).

What I’d be interested in seeing is a direct copper bonded xp-g2, driven at 4+ amps in an hd2010, that’d be interesting if it’d work.

something to ressemble a surface to air missle would be awesome!
