Thanks. Now if you guys could advice where to buy it. Fasttech doesn’t seem to carry the XM-L2 version. I want the 3 modes version in neutral white that would accept Fenix 2600 mAh batteries.

PS. Is there somewhere any explanation for the many mA variations, the T4, T6, U2… and 1B, 5C, 7C… (tint?) I don’t quite understand?

Tint, Binning, and CRI Explained (For XM-L LEDs)

I figured I'd make a guide related to XM-Ls and tint, binning, CRI, and all the other details I can think of. Tint There are 3 basic tints. Cool White is a very pure white and is what most lights are. This generally has a low CRI (color rendition index) and will not show colors that well. Some people say that it is to blue. Tapis, as for sourcing the Convoy’s, whereas they used to be my main supplier, I’ve given up on Fasttech for everything and only order from them now if I completely desperate and cannot find it on Ali, or Deal Extreme, etc.

For the Convoy line there is Simon on Ali who’s store is called something like Great Wall. He has been used by many BLF members including myself and has been very consistent and reliable. Search the forum and you’ll find the info on that.

Thanks TSellers. I’ll certainly follow your advice, since I never bought any light from these Chinese stores and am wary by nature and hate to be disappointed.

At $8.64, the S2 host is a few cents cheaper than Fasttech’s price:

I see he has the Convoy M1 host which is my preferred host for ten cents more than Fasttech, which is good news for me.

Note:

1. on Ali you cannot pay with Paypal, just your credit card, which I prefer because as the prices are in USD, I can use my USD Credit card even though I am in Canada (cannot do that on FT).
2. If you are not into making your own light by sourcing the host and then using a noctigon MCPCB and Qlite driver or whatever, this seller will build the light to your specifications, which can be handy.

I just checked my history on Ali, and found he in fact was the first seller I bought from on Ali Express. I bought 5 pieces of CREE XML2 T5 5B1 for $23.66, and I see they are still the same price. Since that time I have made dozens of orders of all kinds of products on Ali. Although on a couple of sellers I had to wait up to two months, and some of it was fairly useless junk in the end, so far I haven’t been ripped off, but this seller has been just as fast as Fasttech for shipping, if not faster, and the products have been as represented.

I appreciate your help TSellers. I ended up ordering an S3 which I have read is quite floody and I figured out how to customize to XML2 T6-3B + 7135*8 output + Mode (2) 5-30-100%. My daughter has a Fenix E05 that I like very much for its floody beam, and I was looking for something similar, just bigger and more powerful. I hope the Convoy S3 is the one. Now starts the long wait.
