I ordered some lights form fasttech (M1 and S2) and both are defective (what are odds…), they want me to ship both to Miami the cheapest non tracked way, should i do so or will i get the we never received it line?
I will confirm they will reimburse me before i do anything but they may only agree to reimburse for untracked mail
It was bought Apr 15, so it won’t hit the 45 day paypal window till the end of may, i’ve never filed a dispute before, but i will if necessary.
The untracked package may take longer then the end of May based on my previous experience sending a light to another member in the US for upgrading/repair
I too received a doa item from them and they sent me another doa item to replace it. lol (must be good odds) but they ended up giving refund and paid for shipping. I wouldn’t worry too much.
I got this response after they said they will only reimburse me for cheapest untracked package and that there is no insurance if something happens or if the package goes missing, and it will take longer then the 45day dispute window
What should be my next move? Does paypal really work like this if i file a claim?
I trust FT, but between Canada Post and the good ole USPS, the odds of something getting lost is worryingly high. And if you sent it untracked, then you’re totally screwed.
If FT refuses to let you track it, I’d take it up with paypal (item not as described) and explain that they won’t let you ship it back without tracking. Best case, PP gives you full credit. More likely, PP will ask you to ship it to them, but will probably have the brains to let you use a trackable service.
Hi Bort, I had a warranty issue with FT and they wanted me to send back the items to Hong Kong via cheapest airmail which they said they would pay for.
Reading this thread, and based on my experiences dealing with FT, I trust them and I think it will be okay. I really don’t think you will need to make a dispute. The lines of communication are already open, and they have always been professional and reasonable.
please explain the difference, i have never done any of this before so its all new to me
i didn’t even know there were two different things to choose from
well… my m1 dead after i used them few times… i returned it to miami office and using their suggestion cheapest mail delivery… but they claimed they never receive it…i showed them the copy of my USPS receipt and got online credit.
if you have to return it… make sure it’s signature required at delivery… or bunch of thieves from USPS will steal them.
however they are excellent in customer service, i wont worry about their refund policy.
there would be no signature, the $10 shipping has no features, and the $17 one would be tracked and insured, but hey won’t reimburse for it
i knew i read about this somewhere on BLF, but could not find it with the search, can you post a link?
I believe so, but have never tried it. It might not be trackable until it hits the US, or maybe not at all.
I have been able to track all the packages that I sent overseas via the customs number. The nice lady at the post office that clued me into the deal said it may not work for all countries or may only show tracking to the border.
I’ve had the opposite experience repeatedly, small USPS packages sent to Canada and with the “tracking number” i’ve been told by the USPS call center that its just a confirmation of receipt number (or something like that), and unless its a tracked package there is no way to tell if it has left the US even a month later.
Lately though the last few items i’ve ordered have had domestic tracking until they left US hands.
Simply stated, a dispute is when you have an issue, it's a chance for you and the seller to have a common recorded ground to talk about things. A claim is the step AFTER a dispute where you can say something like, "the item never arrived, or the seller did something wrong therefore I want a refund." People overseas often activate a dispute within the 45 day period if they haven't received the item yet, and aren't sure if it will arrive. Example: I send a package to Russia, day 30 and still no package, the buyer disputes so they have the option to escalate to claim in case the item doesn't show up later down the line when the dispute period ends.
that makes sense, is a dispute for a situation like DOA or defects, or for non arrival, damage during transit and such?
how does timing work, is it a 45 day window, does it extend the claim window?
