Feedback on thorfire TG06 mod ???

I am looking to up the ante on this little light…
Overall goals:
>more lumens on hi
>less lumens on low
>last mode memory
>no PWM
>maximum lumens per watt efficiency
>Efest purple IMR cells are my preference, and I have no need for NiMH or alkaline compatibility

I am leaning towards the Adventure sport driver. I like all its seprate-able mode groups so disco is clearly out of the way of everything else. I will have to sand it down to 16.5mm to fit the TG06 pill. Knowing the thermal limits of a host this small, I suspect the brightest modes will be for short bursts only… which is perfectly OK by me. The OEM TG06 driver is single sided only. I am trying to keep things that way if possible.

I want to replace the XP-G2 with something brighter. I am not sure if I can use the XP-L HI linked below…. Anyone have any feedback in this regard? The TG06 has a smooth reflector so I want as much of a bright hot spot as possible.

thanks and happy new year BLF!!

Xpl-hi 3c has a beautiful beam and tint. I think it’s a great choice for this light.

I know other members have modded these lights, as have I. I have one with a 6x7135 driver and another with a 15mm FET driver. Both have guppydrv and both work great… The XPL HI will do well in this light, make sure to bypass the switch spring to help with the amps.

The AS driver will do well with the XPL HI.

Good luck and post updates as you mod it!

OK cool thanks gents!!

Good tip bypassing the -B spring, I hadn’t thought about that.

That driver uses pwm. It may be high enough to be unnoticeable, but it is definitely being used.

Yeah I think its a non visible, high enough frequency…. Thanks
