I've got a Fenix P3D that is several years old and has an unknown problem to where now it basically puts out maybe 5-10 lumens max on any mode. I checked for any obvious issues but can't find any. So I'm thinking it might be a decent host for a drop-in upgrade. But I don't know if that is possible with Fenix lights. Anyone have any info? Thanks.
Pics??not familiar with this unit myself
if it doesn't work take it apart and post some pics n measurments
since you have it out probable replace both th driver and led
also what so you want out of it flashy modes , none ? super bright , super cheap
whats the batteries that go into this >>??
It's the same size as the PD30 that Fenix currently offers. Uses two CR123A cells. It's a 5-mode light but I don't care much about that, I'd be happy with low-med-high or even a single mode. It would be great if I could end up with 300+ lumens out of it.
By biggest question is "can you replace the driver and LED in a Fenix light?" With the head off of the light I don't see a way to remove the old internals. I see threads but no way to unscrew the driver without destroying it.
Looking online at the DIY parts I'm guessing the driver is the 16.7mm version as the outside diameter of the light is about 21mm.
