Well, I was signed up for the Aloft Hobbies restock notification of the QB26800 but it was already out of stock when I found the email.
Meanwhile, this Alibaba listing has been updated. The minimum order size has been reduced to one (1) but there’s another change—apparently capacity varies between 5000mah and 6800mah. That kinda sucks if you ask me. But I’m almost about to order anyway because my 26800 tube for the D4Sv2 I got is going to waste at the moment.
That email was an error. They had some backend site changes and it accidentally changed every product on the site to in-stock status, which triggered the automatic email list. D’oh! He said they got a delay notice by the freight company…they’re still getting the cells but they don’t have a definite date or how long the delay will be.
I got excited when I saw the email, too, and finally emailed them to ask if it was just a really late confirmation that I was on the email list, or what. lol.
They are, but very good ones. Haven’t seen a ton of tests but so far they look reasonably matched (a good sign) and have proven great performance and capacity. None of the major manufacturers ever really got on board with producing 26650 cells or any other 26xxx sizes, so it’s just various factories in China that produce them. Some excellent, some good, some crap. These are great. I don’t know if anybody has worn them out yet but the only drawback seems to be a pretty average/lower overall cycle life but that will of course depend on how they are used.
thanks Correllux. cycle life is what came to mind when i saw these.
back when i looked at 26650 lights and noticed the cell capacity/performance it didn’t seem worth it over a quality 21700.
Molicel seems to support out of pack vape/flashlight users. i’m hoping they expand to 26650, 26800, and 14500s.
Well, that’s sorta good news. At least I didn’t miss the drop. I wonder whats going on with the shipping though. My Convoy L7 has been in Shenzhen since the 26th. I don’t remember any of my past shipments getting stuck until after after they hit the states.
Sometimes if you check various tracking sites one will have more info than the others. I had several from Simon last summer get a real rigamaroo runaround just trying to get off the ground. They made it fine/normal up until the airline got them, and then they got delayed and kicked back and resubmitted and kicked back again, several times. 17track (.net I think) and PostalNinja seem to have the best details. A couple of mine were labeled returned because of a “security exception” and a couple others were “safety related”…turns out, via someone at China Post, those can mean almost anything, and it likely just meant that there was no room on the plane, or the next plane, or the next, and the parcels probably sat in a bin at the airport rather than actually getting returned to the previous handler. No batteries or anything, just bits and drivers and stuff, so it wasn’t a safety thing. On the other hand, apparently if there is an item of contraband/safety concern in one of the big bins that is to be loaded onto the plane, they will often just return the entire bin rather than picking out the problem and setting it aside…all gets sorted eventually. I did have an order that was nothing more than four magnets…that one actually did get returned all the back to origin (??). Both here and there, labor shortages and backlogs are creating some real delays. I have four more packages on the way from various sellers/cities and so far all four are progressing normally…fingers crossed. Until they get to our new-normal USPS services here anyway. Ha.
