i almost try to rub harder on the lens thinking it was on the outside, but then i realized the lens are coated
yeah… bob willing to replace and ship it back for free… it’s definitely very assuring
as a bonus… he’s in US (east coast)… i get my stuff in 1 or 2 day max
Is there really any benefit to an EXTRA LAYER OF QC?
YES!
We spend a great deal of time checking out these lights – and now we will be spending even more.
We have already rejected two of the lights we received direct from ThruNite. The other ThruNite lights (with one small exception) have been GREAT but these two are GOING BACK to ThruNite. I trust that ThruNite will take care of these problems but if they don’t, WE will end up absorbing the cost – not you.
If the two defective lights had gone directly to a BLF member, they would have had to contend with ThruNite, perhaps argue regarding whether there was really something wrong, deal with shipping them back and waiting for a replacement or repaired light, all this while remaining uncertain whether the replacement or repaired light would be any better!
Are we providing a valuable service? Most people seem to agree that we are.
We vow to prove to you that you can get GREAT PRICES and GREAT SERVICE.
EVERYONE CAN MAKE A MISTAKE:
It turns out that we didn’t find a fingerprint inside the lens of one of the lights we’ve shipped. The fingerprint was in an area of the lens through which the light does not shine and it would not affect the beam quality. Nevertheless, we should have caught it – and we didn’t. It was something that we want to make certain doesn’t happen again – so we are now actually using magnifying glasses to inspect these lights.
WE BELIEVE THE TRUE MEASURE OF A SUPPLIER can be taken when there is a problem. The important question is whether or not that supplier does whatever he can to make things right! A small number of problems are inevitable – even with the best of intentions on the part of the supplier – in this case, on our part.
WE WANT OUR FRIENDS AT THE BLF TO BE VERY HAPPY WITH OUR PRODUCT AS WELL AS OUR SERVICE.
DayLighter was very pleasant about this issue and we appreciated his understanding demeanor. Nevertheless, and even though that fingerprint had nothing to do with the performance of the flashlight, we immediately offered to pay for return shipping so that we could REPLACE the unit. He did not have to ask us to do that. We felt that, however small an error, it WAS an error on our part and we wanted to take full responsibility.

“I was doubting buying from KumaBear will do any better, now it is proven.
If Thrunite sent him a dirty TN30 or intermittently mal-functioned switch, who will pay the bill to send the TN30 back? Since KumaBear is selling as such low price, it is not possible to have good return policy.
I was actually find it hard to believe “cheaper and better”. But many seems to buy it.”
DayLighter appears to have surprised DENGOH by explaining what our immediate response was:
“actually he (KumaBear) was willing to take it back and send me replacement prepaid….
i wouldn’t doubt buying from him (KumaBear) again.. such as good experience, now i wish he carry as much selection as DX or wallbuys.. that would be awesome hehe ”
DENGOH, although surprised, did retract his earlier comment by saying:
“You mean he will refund you your return shipping fee if you return the flashlight and send you a new one? If true, then that is very good service.”
Thank you for listening and Very Best Regards,
KumaBear Bob
Hi KumaBear, maybe it was your advertisement about this better TN31. As my TN31 is bougth from China and it is perfect after I cleaned the fingerprint off, when I saw your advertisement, I doubt it because it make me feel that those TN31 bought directly from China is not as good as yours. That was the feeling I have when I first saw your advertisement, and I told myself it is just advertisement so that people have confident with the service. It is kind of “disturbing” though when someone claimed my TN31 is not better QCed than other TN31 bought from you. When DayLighter said his TN31 is from you, then I could not help to think “Ha Ha!” So I posted what I have posted. No big deal, let’s move on.
You definitely provided great services to BLFers. We need more seller like you.
No Harm Done DENGOH
Hi!
I don’t blame you for your post – particularly because you quickly said:
“You mean he will refund you your return shipping fee if you return the flashlight and send you a new one? If true, then that is very good service.”
Several threads on the BLF have shown that ThruNite QC has not been perfect lately. Even your light needed to have the lens cleaned.
The fact is that we have had to return a couple of lights because of problems and that has saved our members from having to deal with the problems themselves – so I hope we are doing a good service for people.
It may not seem logical to you but the money is not the most important thing to us. We also believe that it is good business to take an occasional loss but make friends and have a good reputation. Different businesses believe in doing business in different ways.
There are no hard feelings on my end DENGOH. I’m sure you’re a nice guy.
Best Regards,
KumaBear Bob
I got a TN31, not the 30 but no fingerprints, no flicker, clean electrical plates, and KumaBear had a long list of items they checked before shipping it to me. Love the throw, but it has decent spill too. Now if I can find a field or park big enough to really test the throw, not easy in the city. Amazing amount of light from one emitter!
Very Pleased You’re Enjoying the TN31!
Hi!
IMHO the ThruNite TN30 and TN31 are about as good as you can get.
We put a lot of time into checking them out so it’s gratifying to hear that you’re happy with yours. I’m sure you’ll get a lot of great use out of it.
Very Best Regards,
KumaBear Bob
