Just noticed this light on the Fireflies website. Not sure if it’s a true “Fireflies”, as it’s on the page with the unlabeled Enogear stuff. Lists the following specs:
Material: Brass
Size: 82mm x 17mm
Net Weight: 54gram
Mode: 3 modes (Low 3 lumens > Medium 100 lumens > High 300 lumens )
Why do you do this to me?
I don’t wanna go bankrupt
I will wait for the other light they put back on sale (the small AA titanium light) , so I will wait for it to arrive to decide about this one. Unless FF makes a groupbuy on this
It looks like, in the below image, the USB port is below/outside the o-ring, meaning there’s no waterproofing:
Unless maybe the left side is a sleeve that unscrews?
How long did shipping take? Besides the fact that it doesn’t have mode memory, can you tell me a little about it - do the advertised lumen ratings seem accurate - 3/100/300? Did the max mode seem higher than 300? Did it come with the pocket clip in one of the pics? I’ve been wanting to try something with 2700k tint for a while, so I’m really tempted to order this in SST20 2700k - its about the slimmest 14500 light I’ve seen as well, which is a huge pro…. Forward or reverse clicky?
Got it today and it shipped on July 28. The lumen ratings I can’t really measure, but if I compare it to the approximate levels on my D4v2 then yes they do seem pretty accurate. I would say that the lowest mode might be a bit less than 3, but honestly it’s close enough. It does come with the clip in the picture. It is reverse clicky. The mode memory is kind of… weird. So I think it’s like 4 second mode memory, but, if you don’t use the mode until the memory kicks in, (say you only have it on <4 seconds) and turn it off, it acts like Next mode Memory no matter how long you wait. Now I don’t think anyone really uses a flashlight for less than 4 seconds most of the time so that’s probably not a real issue. Next weirdness though, is once you are in a mode long enough for mode memory to kick in, and you decide to go up a mode, it actually takes two presses to move modes. Basically it acts like you turned it off and back on from mode memory and starts from there. Not something someone couldn’t get used to, just a bit strange. It IS a REALLY slim and nice 14500 light though, with built in charging and a nice reverse clicky, it’s brass, and it’s almost a perfect weight/“density”. It’s just the UI I don’t like, that’s it.
Thanks for the information! Yeah that UI definitely doesn’t sound ideal…. well I just went to order one, and now its saying out of stock…. Not sure if they’ll restock, or if I should just order the Stainless Steel model… Apparently those work with 14500s as well (I have a few extra 14500s I’m trying to put to use), but I like onboard USB charging…
Not exactly about this flashlight, but regarding this kind of behavior — I notice it occurs on the Convoy S2+ 5/3-mode group (and I think I’ve also encountered it in another Thorfire flashlight model, probably the C8S).
Basically, after going into a brightness level, and doing a half-press for a longer time (not sure how many seconds), a single half-press will not do anything. Will need to do 2 quick half-presses to advance brightness. I’m not sure what kind of behavior this is called. But it stumped me before when I was new with the Convoy S2+ 5/3-mode group flashlight. I was wondering why a half-press sometimes works (ie. advances to next brightness), but sometimes a half-press doesn’t. Apparently, the half-press to advance brightness will only work, when there is another half-press done (a few seconds) before.
Does anyone know what the issue is that got the copper 14500 USB pulled from the shelves and orders canceled?
Back sorry: I ordered 2 of them last month and when about a week ago when I messaged fireflies they gave me a tracking number and I assumed everything was good. But this morning I have a message in my inbox saying they had to recall my package because “there may be something wrong with the light. We pulled it off shelves from our website, and we are still improving this product”.
I’m actually quite happy that they noticed a issue and rather than to let me receive the light and have issues, they recalled the shipped package. But, I’m curious to know what the problem was?
Will update this post later, but since mine was defective I got a partial refund and I modified it since I hate the driver it came with. I also figured out the cause of the defect and was able to fix it. I will update with more info later, but now I have mine with a Pineapple Mini driver, and I have a nice deep carry clip.
