First Mod project

Hi All

I’ve been lurking long enough and now it’s time to try some modding.

Here’s details of the potential victim: -

It’s extremely well made. It should be, it cost thirty quid nine years ago and it was my very first LED light.

I’m just waiting for some drivers and LEDs to arrive from FT and then I’ll get started. It’s not much of a mod - I’m just changing the driver, if it’s got one, and the LED. The old Luxeon is a bit dim compared to today’s LEDs. Replacing the NiCads with a LiIon is another possibility. I’ve ordered a driver that can take 6V just in case fully charged NiCads take it over 4.2V

I’ll take pics and post them to the forum.

On another tack. Has anybody used the little DVM module from FT SKU 12.229.01?

Can you use it by shorting Vcc to Vin or does it need a separate supply to Vcc? I wouldn’t want to blow it up because of the long delivery time to the UK. Should’ve ordered a couple maybe….

Wish me luck!

Malc

These little guys work surprising well, it runs on the supply voltage from the leads

Alot of vapers build them into tanks so they can see the voltage supplied by thier vaping rigs when they fire em

Thanks Warhawk

They do work pretty well don’t they?. Mine’s a bit different to the one on FT. The chips are all mounted under the LED module so the back’s flat with no chips, but it still works OK and matched my DVM. The only gripe is it only shows one decimal place but I can live with that as it’s only going to be used to check cells before/after charging.

Cheers
