First post, lurked for years. I believe I selected the correct category.
I just received a MiX-7 Gen 2 from KZ.
I have studied the UI flowchart and instructions list. I have watched videos and read numerous reviews, and am still having the same problem, leading me to believe that my light may possibly be partly defective, if I’m not just doing something wrong.
Anyway, I have read everywhere that from OFF, I 1H click and hold the button for 2 seconds to turn on the UV emitter. Everyone else’s light seems to to that correctly.
Instead of going to UV, 1H for 2S on my light turns on all three 519As and all three colored LEDs, but the UV does not turn on at all.
It’s supposed to be: 1H for white moonlight, 1H fos 1S for low red, green, or blue, and 1H for 2S for UV.
I have searched Reddit and other places for someone else that had this issue, but cannot find anything, which is why I am making this post.
I will attach a video showing what is happening.
edited: didn’t know I couldn’t upload a video, so here is the imgur link MiX-7 v2 issue no UV - Album on Imgur.
is it possible to hotlink/text link with brackets like on reddit?
Thanks!
Are you sure the UV light doesn’t turn on? The other LEDs will glow from the UV light. Hard to judge the brightness from the video.
Yes, I am sure that every emitter is on except the UV one, I tested it without the optics installed. I cleaned up some of the flux after taking the pictures.
I’m not sure if there is a missing component at those two bare pads. looking at the picture closer it almost looks as if the trace from that bare pad is the UV+. However, looking at TacGriz’s review pictures, nothing is on those pads in his light either.
Maybe I’m missing something but everything appears correct?
there is also no florescence from this mode, even shining on other bare emitters or 365nm fluorescent minerals
Could be a ground short somewhere, so a clean reflow might fix it. But I’d contact Skilhunt customer support and ask for a replacement.
1 Thank
Thanks. Sorry for the late reply, I completely forgot about the light for a bit due to other things.
Anyway, Skilhunt says it’s defective, and I’m in contact with KZ to return it for a new one. If there was no warranty I’d have torn it down to try to figure it out, but I’d rather just get a working one.
