I’ve been looking forward to my new light for weeks and it wasn’t delivered as scheduled today. The USPS tracking site says the following:
This is my fifth order from intl-outdoor.com and nothing like this has happened before. I hope USPS is just covering their asses on a late delivery. Physical damage to the shipping label is possible I guess, but it just doesn’t seem likely.
I checked the shipping info on both intl-outdoor.com and Paypal and it’s all 100% accurate.
It seems like I ought to be able to visit the post office and provide proof of purchase and show my tracking number email, but I have a feeling it’s not that easy. I’m gonna be so pissed if it gets sent back to China…
Should be easy. Go to the PO and show the addy, possibly even state ID, along with the stuff from IO and any other info about the package.
Evidence, evidence, evidence.
If the drone at the window isn’t helpful (most are, but you never know), ask for the Postmaster. They usually get Very Upset if something screws with the mail.
Don’t be belligerent, sarcastic, or even upset. (No one wants to help The Karen.) Play innocent. “I got this notice, ‘incomplete address’, but this is everything I have [show alllllllll evidence], and it all looks legit. I’m not sure what the problem is. Can you help me?”
No other answer anyone can give but, “Uhhh, yeah, that’s a complete address… let me check into it.”.
And then, for some reason, Bob would be your uncle.
That’s happened to me —- The lady at the PO just shook her head when she brought me my package — Address read perfectly — I said what happened, the carrier just didn’t feel like getting out of the truck — she just laughed
Hmm thanks for the advice and anecdotes. I will watch the tracking info and if it isn’t delivered in the morning I will visit the post office instead of having lunch and try to hash it out. I’ll print out the order info from both intl-outdoor.com and Paypal as well as the email.
It seems like if there’s a mistake, like the package ends up on the wrong truck or not on the truck at all then the carrier will either mark it delivered anyway, or some stupid “exception” like you are seeing.
There doesn’t seem to be a status that just says “delayed, it’ll be delivered tomorrow”
I’ve had both happen, and the packages eventually show up.
This happened recently for me as well, but the package came the next day. When I looked at the package, the label was pretty beat up and the zip code was rubbed off. They figured it out.
The PO uses people to do stuff and sometimes they fail.
Yesterday the PO delivered a package that did not get scanned as it was to be placed in the mailbox. We got the box okay but the PO app still shows it was not delivered and is apologizing for the delay.
Well, turns out it was sorted incorrectly yesterday and someone just chose to scan it as “incomplete address”. Maybe there isn’t a more accurate designation or maybe they just didn’t want to use it. I found this out by visiting the Post Office where I was told that my package was out for delivery again despite the fact that the tracking info had not been updated. So I returned home and the package arrived not long after. Although it wasn’t a very long drive (about 20 minutes round trip) it would have been nice if they had scanned it this morning and saved me the trouble. Oh well.
Dangerous how? Just curious, no need to get too specific if you’re worried about doxxing. Speaking of GPS, my younger sister moved into a different place last year and Google Maps doesn’t know where it is. It gets you into the right neighborhood but you end up several streets down in a spot where there are no driveways and no possible valid address. It’s pretty annoying but at least she is aware of it by now and able to help direct new visitors by phone.
Here in the NE corner of WA state, we get a ton of snow.I do snow plowing with an atv with a 5-foot blade—have for 20 years. Does a good job but the driveway gets kind of narrow as the snow piles up and the winter wears on. There comes a time when the UPS driver informs me “time to put a bin out”. So I follow the tracking carefully and when a UPS delivery is imminent, I place a large plastic bin out near the end of my driveway. I know what time(roughly) the UPS truck gets here and I walk out and pick up my goodies and maybe my bin as well if I don’t have anything else coming in the near future. USPS packages are no problem because small packages fit in the mailbox and they bring the large ones to my door. They drive Jeeps and have no complaints about my driveway.
