I dunno but are flashlights nowadays compared to late 2019 more expensive?? Seems like there’re all pricey all of a sudden?
Sure, so are knives.
And the shipping costs more now.
Many people wanted a Trade War, guess who is paying the price for it now?
purchases cost more across all sectors. doesn’t matter if they are airsoft, electronics, flashlights, smart home or any other item. I would estimate 20-30% were added. shipping now costs money. it was free, then a few cents, not shipping is 2-3 dollars excluding insurance.
At the end of the day, these shops have to make more money with fewer customers. I don’t think that with the redundancies going on people will be happy to spend 80 bucks on a flashlight they won’t be using anyhow.
Lights I have watched for a few years have crept up some for sure. The basic Sofirn C8A is a light I have gifted a lot of over the years- about 5 or so. I usually add one to the cart when buying other Sorfirn stuff.
In 2017… I could get that light for about $15 (shipped) on a good deal. A year later it went up to about $16.50. Then last year it hit about $18. Today, I have to buy $60 worth for free shipping and THEN that light can be “tack’ed” on to an order for $20.
I now am buying the C8G in it’s place (for another few bucks) for gifts to some hunters and outdoor people I hang with. The C8A is still a very good light (that survives gun mounting on 1” scope rings fine BTW) and it’s very light weight. But for all the extra features the C8G is better (and doesn’t need modding as it holds turbo in memory using a tail switch- which of course is always modded with Lexel’s FET circuit!)
So anyway… that’s about 25% more that three years back. But I also have to say that the newer UIs, optional tints, run-time (21700), and continued level of quality is worth the extra money to me— AND I don’t have to modify as many lights now (like the C8G)… so ya, I keep buying them
But I might consider paying for this one! 6 x Cree XHP70.2 NW!! Holy Crow!
Prices for everything went up since Corona.
Less supply, higher shipping costs, more delays, etc.
I wonder how much this light would be in Canadian Tire money…
Yeh, helps me not spend…
“They want how much for that now??”
Man if I collected all the Canadian Money I have and put it on a scale, it probably wouldn’t show a reading.
Yeah everything’s more pricey now so most of it is passed on to the consumer. Even McDonalds is pricey nowadays. I mean if you wanted an egg in your sausage McMuffin, it’s like around $2 more. :money_mouth_face:
Prices are increasing for sure. I know for me, I have purchased way more this year from my own country than any other year. The price difference on some items between here and across the pond are getting closer. Since it takes so long to get things from across the pond anymore I have shoped more in the states even though it might cost a little more. I have found some knives even cheaper here than across the pond and with some of these flashlight companys selling on amazon, I can get a light shipped in two days for cheaper when they run deals or flash sales than across the pond with the long shipping times. Wasn’t that what the trade war was suppose to do, level the playing field?
I never really thought about it, until I read this thread. I have most definetly spent more this year in the states than previous years. Now to be fair, part of that is because Ali quit taking paypal plus their new added sales tax along with other sellers and the deal gap is closing in and the long shipping times. I fear though when these sellers in the states start restocking their inventory with across the pond goods the prices are going to go up here. I hope it doesn’t happen, but I suspect it will.
.
Anybody else find they’re shopping more in their own country this year?
I stop ordering stuff back in April cuz it seems that I have pretty much everything to keep me busy for a while. Things for electronics, art, flashlights etc. I would love to order from the States but it’s the high shipping cost. Mind you I do have a US address down at Point Roberts Shell gas station. Just never gone there yet cuz I haven’t cross the border in ages so I need to find time to chk out all my paper work before I cross. I have nothing to hide but I want to make sure everything’s in order before I go. Make sure to vacuum the car at least 3 times.
I usually order from Canada the same items that can be ordered overseas. Stuff like batteries, solder, RAW etc. It cost a few bucks more but not much plus shipping is wayyy faster. Although I’m actually gonna order a bunch of stuff from Sofirn next few days for the coming holiday season. Yeah come fall, with the holiday season approaching and the virus situatuion and shipping times and flu season and trade wars etc I figure I gonna get it done now! I mean I only just received my essential oils from Thailand yesterday from my order 3 months ago!
Yes, prices from China to Australia have gone up as well. The biggest increase has been in postage.
Very few Free Postage available now & where postage is charged the costs have increased. Delivery is also now within 90 days, used to be 60.
When the medium of exchange and the store of value are both fake, its fake value depreciates over time. If money were real, like it was before 1933, it would not loose value. The cost of oatmeal and soybeans and flashlights is zero from my point of view, because I buy them with fake money. If I had to pay gold and silver coin for store bought food, I would grow my own fruit and veggies and buy less flashlights.
Everything is more expensive if you didn’t notice.
Also with present exchange rate PLN/USD I pass all expensive stuff buying abroad. More or less it’s 1/3 more expensive than before.

Does anyone know how much in sales volume was lost in Asia during the pandemic? Either due to supply chain issues or loss in consumer confidence? It must be a huge number?!
In most trade business loss is tremendous.
Printing industry I work for lost 3/4 of their volume compared to previous year.
Everything is on a downslope and we didn’t even hit the bottom.

Not really, the high end got higher, and the low end got lower.
I’ve been noticing that although the “official” prices of things haven’t changed, there are very few deals to be had now. I’ve been seeing that in everything from food to flashlights.
No-one wants to be named and shamed as a “pandemic price-gouger” on social media, but the deals were so common that they had become the true normal price, so cancelling them is an effective price rise anyway.
Not only flashlights.
Almost everything has gone price up due to shipping costs (coeonavirus havoc)
I guess there are complex reasons why we also didn’t have a Prime Day in 2020 (maybe a good thing).
