While reviewing the Sofirn ST2 recently, nostalgia set in and I was reminded of the once popular flat 4.5 V lights like this one.
I found them very handy at the time (much more so than my Grandpa’s big round family flashlight).

In past before led technology 3R12 format of flashlight was most popular in my country for decades from 1950’s to 2000’s.
I have about 20 flashlights of this type in my collection.

That type of lights was the first one I had, old soviet steel light with real glass lens, I was 9 or 10. then I got newer model, a plastic one, I was probably 12-13. I still have one like that, not exact one, but one just like it. as well as several others. I had a friend buy me few batteries of that type on his last trip to Germany. Those type of batteries are not available in USA at all, there isn’t a single device in USA sold that uses those batteries.
