Flood to throw with different emitters ..Nichias..,xpg2s ??

Has anyone tried nichias ,xpg 2 ,xpe2 etc .. in Flood to throw lights ??

I'm a little fond of the nichias and might have to do one ..just because of the tint and cri..

also... has anyone de-domed one yet .

I was just looking for impressions from those who have tried different emitters in Ftt lights .

ftt lights?

Flood to throw

I think that part of the Nichia 219 high-CRI magic is embedded in the dome.

Yeah i suppose you're right ..I just thought I remembered that some people accidently messed up a few installing them

I just bought a flood to throw Mini-Mag with Nichia 219 from Old-Lumens. It’s in the mail…can’t wait to try it.

Does this really mean no one has swapped newer emitters on flood to throw lights ?

this can't be true

It’s not.

OL swapped in an XPG2 in my 3 mode SK68 a couple/few months back. Wrote about it somewhere here on BLF.

Die image on wall is 3 - 4 times larger and zoom is about 50% larger than my 1-mode XPE. Similar draw, similar intensity - more light.

Using a 14500, it’s quite like having an XML zoomie in an SK68 package. At the same distance from the ceiling , the XPG2 is barely larger than the XML.

Up close, the XML may have a very slight edge in intensity, but across a large room the XPG2 takes it. At least as the batteries sit in them right now.

Update: Took my 3 FTT lights outside last night and my impressions are exactly the same both on a wall and out at about 150’. The XPG2 in the SK68 will be taken before my XML unless run time is a concern.

Current cell status indicates about 4 watts for the XPG2 and 6 watts for the XML. I don’t have a 14500 in my single mode 68, but the beam is quite a bit smaller so it still wouldn’t comparable even at 7 watts with a fresh cell.

Thanks Gottazoom

I appreciate your effort .I assume i knew the answers as I've put a regular xpg in a edi-t p-4 ..and have seen xml zoomies too.
