Florence

Prayers that all will be back fine eventually.

Anyone affected by it?

If you’re posting, then you’re probably safe and sound, unaffected.

My sister that used to live in Central Florida now lives close to Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

So far she is doing fine.

We lived in Greensboro for 2-1/2 yrs 27yrs ago , Great People there. They will help each other. Of all the places we moved to, I Loved North Carolina the most. Hope the damage is minimum.

Hey, guys. I’m in the Greensboro area (Julian, about 20 min SE of downtown GSO). Locally, it’s been breezy and it’s mostly been just a real rainy weekend. Some power outages that Duke has been able to restore within their normal time frame, and some flash flooding here and there.

A good number of water rescues from flash flooding to the south of us (Charlotte, Rock Hill, ect), as the storm moves across.

Overall, Eastern NC fared about average, relative to past hurricanes. The biggest concern now is flooding from runoff in the next few days. They have new evacuations, even though the storm has mostly moved from the area. A 9 mile section of I-95, and part of I-40 has been closed.

We are in Fayetteville. We are ok. People within 1 mile of the Cape Fear are under mandatory evac. Police going door to door notifying with flyer warning that emerg. pers. may not be able to help should they choose to stay. Mayor in televised broadcast told all who stay to notify nxt of kin. Hope Mills Lake was lowered before storm but so much rain has fallen that the dam is being topped but HAS NOT failed despite some posts on social media. Thanks for your thoughts.

Glad to hear you guys are OK. Thank God it didn’t come in as previously forecast as a Category 4.

My mom talked to my sister today.

It's not raining at their house.

There's no flooding on their 2 acre property.

They haven't lost power.

And today's her birthday!

Happy birthday to raccoon city's sister!

My wife’s company has a office there, reports coming in are just horrible!

Houses completely leveled (and the property they sit on still under water).

Flood level continues to rise…

I’m getting ready to head down there this week to help clean up, starting with homes and then moving onto the building.

Terrible terrible tragedy. I’m not a religious person but if you are they could use prayers.

My neighbor moved to North Carolina last week. Not sure what part. They were just acquaintances. The hello, how are you kind of thing. That said, I hope they’re ok.

Hopefully everyone is safe in the affected areas. I know there are a lot of relief efforts staging here in Atlanta to head up there. We fly air ambulance, and may be activated by FEMA to go in and clear hospitals if needed. I know another air ambulance company went in before the storm to help get out critical patients in the hardest hit zones.

Hong Kong is getting POUNDED right now by Mangkhut… the video I’ve been seeing is insane.

This is probably my final update from my sister in this thread.

It rained in her part of North Carolina, though not excessively.

The danger appears to be over.

Looks like she lucked out.

Good to know :+1:

My bro survived Katrina w/minimal damage. Moved to Californica, survived Bakersfield heat and Tule fog until he retired from CSUB last year. Dumb ass academic moved right back to N’awlins. Go figure?

:open_mouth: :person_facepalming: …. There just ain’t no figuring that.
He must have NOLA in his blood….
As well as liking life below sea level……. :frowning:

I lived in Central California heat for most of my life, then I moved...
