Hi guys, i’m new to this forums and i’m glad i found it!
I’m in the market for SkyRayKing torch, but i need some info because i’m total noob when it comes to LED/torchs/tactical lights.
1. How accurate is this site, http://www.fasttech.com/products/1601/10003058/1228800 and is this really the best most reliable SRK model? is the stated info about being the best accurate (genuine) because its actually cheaper then the black? if the info is not accurate, where can i find the most genuine SRK with worldwide shipping?
2. Comparing the SRK (lests say any model, even the older ones) will it destroy in terms of output/brightness the M22 warrior?
No. The suppliers of those things are changing them without notice, making them crappier and crappier, but still selling for the same prices (Fasttech doesn't make the things, it's the factory/suppliers to blame but that's another issue). If you want one that's not total garbage go with either:
One more thing, the batteries you linked to me, are you sure they are button top? because when i chose this, I guess this means button top protected -
This is the SKU at the end of the page - specs of that model,
FASTTECH SKU 1345500
And this is the SKU from the model you linked,
FASTTECH SKU 1141104
Sorry for bothering, but i just want to make sure (maybe you accidently linked wrong model) if they arrive here and they are not correct ones, i will be ending spending alot more money
I have ordered from FastTech 4 times in the last few months. I have been completly happy with them. Get the FandyFire UV-S5 for $45.00 and the green two packs of the panasonic protected batteries for $17.62 . The NiteCore I4 charger works well and will charge 4 batteries at once.
Those batteries are button tops and work fine in any 18650 light I own. As stated, use BLF in the coupon slot and save 5%.
FF refers to FancyFlashlights.com. You’ll pick up on the lingo and acronyms soon enough
FT batteries, the Panasonic NCR’s (all types, 2900, 3100, 3400) appear to be good and recommended.
The Original SRK from FF is considered one of the few originals still available. The price reflects it. If you want an SRK that works great out of the box with no mods, this is the one that everyone recommends. Most others have unknown internals (mainly the driver) and some have finishing and workmanship issues. If you are modding it anyway, these can be a bargain (many of us got them from Wallbuys for $32).
1. Is that sight more reliable then FastTech, and do they offer free shipping worldwide?
2. What is the real link for that site, what means FF, sorry i’m new to flashlights/batteries.
Thanks dude.[/quote I’ve ordered about a dozen times from them, no problems shipped 9-10days tops had one return. Fandyfire Darth 3 it was shipped to warranty after RA (return authorization) and returned to me about 9 days quicker than it took Kiadomain to ship on C8 light they have been great with quality and customer service response one Chinese based business I rate tops!
It appears FF (FancyFlashlights.com) is currently down. I do not have a like to the products in question.
FT (Fasttech.com) is very reliable. Most buyers have been happy with their service.
FF has shown to be reliable, With occasional communication issues. Generally they tend to come through with a solution.
I’ve order countless times from Fasttech, every order was handled well, including the two or three items that had quality issues.
I’ve ordered from FancyFlashlights four times. Each order was promptly shipped. I did have some communication issues. My latest issues were promptly dealt with (replacements have been shipped).
I hope this helps. Once FF is back online, you can find the items fairly easily.
If you are new to flashlights, even a “poor” SkyRayKing output would still be very impressive, so I wouldnt worry too much about where you got it vs price. BUT, if you are actually going to walk/hike with it outside for more than 15-30 mins, I’d recommend a TR-3T6 (or clone) instead, and if you want even more light a Trustfire J18. The reason is, although most of the guys here are in love with SRKs (I like them too), they get so hot you cant keep hold of them for very long on high without burning your hand, so I love my Trustfire J18 or TR-3T6 or Trusftire AK48 for night walks in the forest. If you want a huge flooder, a Trustfire x100 was on sale at Sunsky.com WITH two chargers and batteries for about $100 too…I dont have that one myself, but its a great deal if you are starting out and want a big flooder with I hear slightly more than SRK throw! (if I could have only one flashlight for my uses starting out, I think thats the one I wish I would have bought)
Thanks alot guys, now im back with more questions, lol sorry.
Ok, lets say i get the older version SRK which has better build quallity and better driver. Wouldn’t it be a bit strange to ignore the new XML-U2 leds in new models? as i read they are more efficent and produce less heat, so its a bit confusing to me, sorry i don’t question your knowledge here guys, i just want to learn a bit, if i buy this light for fun ant not serious use, should i still prefer the older models?
The TR 3T6 as far as i saw it use 2 batteries and SRK is using 4, would this make the T3 3T6 very low lasting regarding battery usage?
which from the 2 has better output/beam/throw?
Also are there any mods regarding cooling for SRK, i got an expert friend who mod stuff very good.
One more thing, if i go for FandyFire UV-S5 Cree XM-L, do they offer the XML-U2 version? thanks.
SRK mods: are generally to increase the output even more that I’ve seen…and usually you are more concerned about heat reducing LED efficiency…in SRK the heat I was talking about was more your hand being fried and not much you can do about that without increasing the body size, causing the overheating LEDs to overheat more, turning it down, or something major
TR 3T6: is slightly less output and throw than SRK, but never buy one without the extension included, they should be able to use 3 batteries, and 3400 mAh Orbtronics give a nice 2hr 8min runtime on high. SRK is only slightly higher runtime, similar because it uses more power, both due to the reduced efficiency running hotter and slightly higher output.
TR3 is better if you want to hold things at the same time, are going to hold it for medium to long periods of time, want a lower mode, want something to find what goes bump in the night. SRK is better to use for short periods of time, show off with friends, throw and output are slightly better, its nicer to look at in general.
If you want more advice, you should probably tell us what is most important to you in order (throw/flood/total output/modes/use time/what you are using it for primarily/weight/size/etc) and more importantly, what your price range is…all of those factors can drastically change which light most people would probably recommend (except for some SRK lovers out there)
I’m really heading towards FandyFire or SRK, but since FF uses older leds but its better build and such i dont know what to pick.
I will be using the lights for fun, and checking during the nights in my yard, because its quite big and i want to get every last detail in it, often some strange noises appear and i cant see at all with my cheap maglite, and even with a nicer one its still not enough for my needs, + its fun to have such power
Throw vs Spill? = 40% throw/60% spill, size i prefer something like SRK to be honest, price range is around 100-120$ for (quality batteries quality charger flashlight)
Build quality vs output, i’m not sure about this really, if the build quality is good enough on newer U2 models, i would pick output/power (newer LED U2) models over better build quality and older leds. Is there any known decent SKU/model that they sell with U2 leds?
Does Fandyfire offer U2 versions? if not is there any other clone of SRK which offer the new U2 leds, and yet has same/better build quallity as SRK?
—> One more thing, if i go for FandyFire UV-S5 Cree XM-L, do they offer the XML-U2 version? thanks.
Usually if you go for a U2, afaik the cost will be about equal to a $55 J18, which puts out alot more flood than an SRK, but doesn’t throw as far, and people have modded it to massively more output. Thats also why I brought up the Trustfire x100: more flood AND throw and price at sunsky.com is similar to that when you add in batteries. But, its big….
I’m still tempted by both the Trustfire x100 and the SRK with 4x T6, even when I have all the other lights we talked about plus more…maybe you should get neither and run while you still can
Ah yeah see for what you say now, I’d say get an SRK…I dont know all the various SRK mods well, but I dont think any are very noticeably “built” better other than some have better driver (more power to LEDs) or better bin LEDs. Maybe the SRK 4x T6 if you are just looking around your yard a few secs, but thats an unknown as to its performance
