Hey everyone. Just thinking about buying a Foursevens Mini MA light for its compactness, use of a single AA battery and it’s pricing. But I just wanted to see if anyone of you owners had any problems with the body wall thickness being too thin. Did it cause any problems?
PS- I posted this on CPF Marketplace and got banned… for “no specific reason” and permanently. Messed up group of people over there.
I have a few 47 lights. They all seem to be built very well. I just picked up the new Atom. It is a niche light, but perfect for what I wanted (super small cr123 flood with a mag on the rear). I am looking at it in front of me as I type. In my opinion, they seem to build fairly good products. I also know of a few people who had lights that had some problems, and after a few emails, they were fixed free of charge (except shipping). They are a tad bit expensive if you don’t catch it on sale. Also, If you live near Atlanta, then you are even better off if you have problems. Thats where their HQ is. So I think, basically you have a china made light, good specs, with a “local” person to stand behind the product. Of course thats for the US folks on the forum.
Anyways, welcome to the forum.
Bit odd about your ban, I see you are still OK on CPF itself. I'm banned there to but I carried on pretty crazy a while back, I'm back there now with a different nik.
Edit Just found your thread on CPF http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?377431-Foursevens-Mini-Series-Body-Wall-durability
I was banned from the CPF Marketplace forum, which apparently isn’t linked to CPF. I’m fine on CPF, although, I have see some rather rude remarks from CPF veterans when I was browsing on my probationary account. (3 valid posts before you are approved). I got an email just a few minutes ago that said my ban from CPF MP was an accident and they restored it. I’m fine still using it as a resource since they have such a huge list of reviews and good info from the manufacturers. But it definitely makes me think twice about asking certain questions. I got harangued for being ambiguous in my asking for an under $50 AA flashlight recommendation.
You’re well advised to stay away from there, unless you have a thing for taking abuse from some really attitude saturated people.
Back to the FourSevens lights - I have a 2AA Mini and a Ti 1xAA Mini, and both work flawlessly. The upside is that they’re extremely light weight and compact, and the downside is that I suspect it might be easy to dent or crush one - although after extensive daily carry, my aluminum 2AA is good as new. (The titanium one remains new in the box - I don’t really need it, and DARN it’s pretty! :D)
I’ve bought several pieces from FourSevens and I think they’re a good outfit selling a good product. I’ve never had reason to complain.
Another tip though, I also have an Olight i2EOS and other than minor external cosmetic differences, I believe its the exact same light as the FourSevens Mini AA. The beams, colour, and levels are indistinguishable - and BangGood has the i2EOS available for about $16 right now.
Know we are fading a little. But I lurked here & there for over a year. I am also a very active member of a different hobby forum. I prefer a down to earth family friendly format. I found this one to fit me better. I don’t like to trash others ideas of fun. Everyone here seems helpful regardless of your experience level. That I appreciate.
Have you thought more on the 47?
Thanks for the input. Yeah, I honestly won’t be doing anything that will require it to withstand anything more than accidentally stepping on it or dropping it while camping or something. It’s good to know that the general consensus says it’s a solid product. The price point for what you’re getting is what’s roping me in. I think I’ll go ahead and get one.
Also, I’ve heard that the owner of FourSevens is a chairman (or a similar position) at Olight, which explains some similarities in products. Doesn’t matter to me. A good product is a good product. I think I’m sold.
Reading trough your thread it looks like some helpful members tried to drag enough information out of you so as the best suggestions could be made. I think your being way over dramatic.
Asking for more information is one thing, but making mocking remarks is another. Even if it was their intent to be helpful, there are nicer ways to go about it. Did I ask too broad a question in the beginning? Maybe. Could I have specified EXACTLY what I was looking for? Probably. But it was my first post to a forum where I was just looking for general help and didn’t know I was required to list so much detail in order to get the feedback I wanted. If all they wanted was more information, they just needed to ask. Instead, mock conversations were drawn. There’s just a more mature way to go about things, especially to a new forum member looking for a little help.
4sevens lights have always been some of my favorite lights. I’ve had several mini’s, quark turbo’s, maelstroms, & preons. Only issue I ever had is the Preon 0. I got one of the early flawed designs, but they no longer have that issues.
My latest buy is the Atom. VERY cool little little.
Only slightly negative issue with 4sevens lights is that they tend to be conservative in lumens. However I know they do that to offer better run times and reliability. So I’m totally cool with that.
I’m getting a Preon1 for Christmas from the wifey. How’s the Preon working out for you? I have a Fenix E01. Great solid little light but no option to give a little more light when I need it. I like the multi-mode features of the 4-7s lights. Relatively high lumens when you need it, and can dial it down when you don’t.
The Preon 0 is fine. It’s truthfully a little underpowered for such a floody light. The Atom is the same concept, but with almost 5 times the power - 4sevens got it right with that little gem. I have a Preon 2 which is a nice light. I found out after purchase that I just don’t care for “pen” form factor lights, so I don’t use it much. But its a sweet light for people that like that form factor.
The Atom, Mini X, and Turbo X - those lights I will never part with and my favorites of about 10 4sevens lights I own. Love all 3 of them.
Welcome, fellow constellation! Your frustration is understood. That place may not appreciate a limit on budget or prejudice for extravagance as much as this one. But some others have definitely got it worse while there.
I believe they sit in chairs alongside other chair-sitters. He seems like a nice guy. I’ve seen some of the video interviews at 4-7s booths at Shot Show and other conventions. They certainly have figured out a way to make some beautiful looking flashlights. Their attention to detail seems to be spot on.
Yeah, after looking on the net, I’ve seen some pretty horrible examples of people getting attitude for no apparent reason. Mine is a slap on the wrist in comparison. It’s just sad that a comparison like that even has to be made about how fellow forum members are treated.
After you add it to the cart, you add an address to the bottom left and then checkout through Paypal using the big yellow Paypal logo. That’s a pretty awesome deal.
Thanks, I will use that special BLF code. I have the AAA version of the light its awesome, well built and very smooth threads. Looking fwd to the AA version since it has a 60hr low. Thanks for the coupon and letting me know the deal.
