Please don’t abuse this guys!
Sinkpad has actually been giving out samples like this for awhile.
sweeeeeeet! I love XHP ! I requested aluminum and copper. I’d like to see how they stack up to other brands.
I have seen these offers from Sinkpad a few times and have finally taken them up on the offer, how ever where it states “Company” I put “home hobby” if they decide that its not profitable (as in future sales) to send to a hobbyist then that is fair enough
As said above Please don’t abuse this guys! if you have not got a use for them now, please don’t just get them just cos you can.
Cheers David
I tried requesting once, got a reply saying it is approved and will be sent but in the end never got anything anyway.
Probably not meant for hobbyist.
I did do a request once, and received the boards, that was when the XHP70 boards first came out, with them I could finally do a proper emitter test for BLF on the XHP70.
I asked for 2, good advice in not being greedy.
For all that they’re dtp boards the traces are a bit small for high wattage.
Can these xhp boards be used for xpg 2 or an xml 2? If not getting an xhp was on my list of needs anyway.
Not only this, don’t abuse anything, any other things.
Just keep in mind Sinkpad isn’t a huge corporation that won’t notice a hit to their bottom line if everyone and their mother requests samples. I don’t have any intent to buy a bunch of Sinkpads, so I won’t be taking their samples.
Before getting the boards…Please remember what the word “SAMPLE” means, sinkpad is not giving away free products for us to use but to try and buy later if we like. I have no need to switch to sinkpad because I’m fine with noctigons so won’t be taking any.
FYI, their triple boards are NOT set up for easy parallel set up, you have to cross wire them. They do not seem very willing to do custom set up for less than $600 (Aluminum) or $1200 (Copper) to change this, but then again, flashlights are a small part of the LED lighting use.
There MOQ is fairly reasonable at 40-50 pieces, if you like them, you can stock up!
Sinkpads are still the only 10mm XM/XP DTP copper available. There’s no difference in the traces or pads for 3V and 6V LEDs so they are interchangeable, it’s the 12V versions that are not. You can probably get a 3/6V led to work on a 12V mcpcb but not a 12V led to work on a 3/6V board.
+1
I like them for beeing white.
I received mine today, 4 copper xhp50’s one aluminum xhp50 and one aluminum xhp70. Why would an aluminum sinkpad be used instead of a copper? cost? Corrosion resistance?
Cost and that the fact that it’s nearly as good. Even tests by a BLF member show that aluminum is very close. The DTP direct thermal pad is the important part, aluminum / copper not so much. But most BLF modders still like copper because it has a cool factor. Even if the difference is small people want to feel like they got the best. Standard stars are aluminum so copper adds a premium feel. Noctigons are even gold plated all around. Sure the gold provides corrosion resistance but the bit of bling doesn’t hurt either.
I like copper stars to solder to my copper/brass heat sinks I make. But I have some aluminum DTP stars coming to try out.
I submitted a request for 3 sinkpads (1 XHP50 and 2 XHP70) somewhere in january, they never arrived, now I hawe XHP leds and no mcpcb-s to mount them on…
