That is true, but my MF01 Mini hangs in there longer with the insert.

Overheating of the temperature sensor occurred due to the ill-conceived location of the driver components. That is, the brightness of the flashlight was reset before it was heated by the operation of the LEDs.

With the regular plastic part inside the head of the MF01 Mini, it went into stepdown very quickly. Once I swapped it for the copper one, Turbo lasted longer and it seemed that I was getting better heat transfer to the rest of the head and not just to the emitter.

The ‘extra’ overheating issue with the MF01 mini comes from the large number of 7135’s on the driver when used in high regulated modes.

The EC01 only has one 7135 so does not suffer from such an issue.

I have no reason to believe the EC03 will have a different driver.

What does this offer that my FT03 XHP50.2 lacks? I see the greater output but what type of lux are we talking about?

I don’t think these two compare. FT03 is a rather big light built for throw whereas EC03 is a compact light which will likely have a somewhat balanced beam with a good amount of spill and moderate throw.

FT03: 170mm * 69.5mm * 34.5mm (length, head diam, body diam)
EC03: 130mm * 48mm * 27mm (estimated length, head diam, body diam from EC01)
