We can't deny that 2020 is a really bad year for majority of companies in the world. New startup like MEOTE will continue to face challenges on funding, rent, tough guidelines from government, manpower, raw materials, shipping, reduce in global demand, and many more. Fortunately, they have a bigger company to fall back to. I do expect a lot more models being roll out by Q4 once FM1 issues fixed. Please give them some time to get things sort up over the few months.

First it was your project and your so called design, when it sounds not so good, all of the sudden there is a group of directors. You are basically copying what Emisar did and use a code made by TK for Emisar which was released publicly for others to use too. Then you copied what F3WA did using the sleeve. Curious how fair that is anyway one actual company (Emisar) that tries to innovate and pays TK for firmware development just so that then other to use it too and pretend they have a team of developers and engineers.

They should be pulling their hair out at the very least. I got the SST 20 version which with out a doubt has the WORST beam profile of any light I have ever seen including dollar bin lights. I can’t decide whether to replace the emitters to make the beam a little less horrible which wont fix the flickering that has not improved with repeated cleaning or just vent my frustration with a sledge hammer and toss it in the trash so I never have to see it again. I find it impossible to believe that they actually turned this light on and thought it would be acceptable to use as anything but a bad joke.

Sorry rant finished.

I used my OXY/Acetylene Rose Bud torch on a couple that I hated, it turned them into a melted molten mass of… you know…very cool looking visually!! But the hammer is way more satisfying… specially if you stand it straight up like a nail and pile drive it into the anvil…

I would like add my input along with others. I’m just a consumer, I buy the lights, pop in a battery and turn them on. No modding experience in my blood. I didn’t get any flickering problems like others and didn’t check for excess oils. Straight out the bat I went to turbo and something felt off about it. I could feel as if wasn’t as bright as other lights have purchased, hell my FW3A first batch edition feels better than this. I got the SST-20 4000k version and the beam of this light is the worst I have ever seen across any light I have bought. The “hotspot” or beam profile looks like they have a slight yin yang curve to them. That was last week when I got it and maybe a total of 2 minutes of use of the light and just put it on my shelf to collect dust. Only positive that I see is that I got another 18650 battery to my collection.

You fail to understand the nature of "open source". The software is free. If you want a particular person to develop it for a particular use, then you probably have to pay them for their work - but that doesn't change that the software is free to use within the terms of its license. In fact, a lot of large corporations invest a lot of money in open-source software development. Those innovations are typically then available under the same open-source license - those who take advantage of them are not stealing anything.
I heard about the FM1 before I heard about the KR4, but that's just me. The KR4 achieves the electronic switch signal by a different method than the FW3A/FM1 (spring vs sleeve). The electronic tail switch is older than the FW3A by a fair bit - and by the way, the FW3A was designed originally by Fritz.
When a form factor becomes popular, there will be attempts to adopt it. As this one is complicated, it's no surprise that an attempt has, uh, mostly failed. Though I'm surprised by the optics issues - best practices there are well known, so the lack of quality control cannot be overstated.

Same for me and others. The SST20 version does not work well with this optic - dark spot dead center for instance…

Got his lantern a week ago. My option is blue with LED LH35 The quality of the performance satisfied me with density, there were no problems with appearance. Immediately at the first start in maximum mode and in turbo mode, light blinking was observed. After cleaning the contacts in the tail and head, as well as cleaning both ends of the tube and good tightening, the flicker of light disappeared. After a week, the use of flicker was not noticed, the center of the light spot, flat, without darkening, I think I was lucky with my copy, I am pleased with the purchase.

P.S. The flicker at the maximum still appeared, it’s a pity, I was so hoping that my copy was an exception…

As you point out the code is available for others to use. I’ve bought a few drivers with that firmware. The sleeve idea is also not patented (that is fritzworks idea btw not lumintops) and emisar also uses the sleeve idea in their new KR() range.

Meote still violates the license as far as I can see. Or do you have a link to the source code? I can’t find it anywhere on the product page.

Even with all the negativity reviews I really wanted to buy this light just based on how it looks. It really is just a nice looking flashlight. I’m happy I did and it didn’t let me down

I received it last week and it would not work properly with a flat top cell. I switch to a button top, cleaned all of the contacts with Alcohol, tightened everything down (like of the fw) and it now worked perfect.

It doesn’t suffer from any of the previous issue I see stated here. I can even remove the bezel by hand and there’s no glue. The optic is still the 2 prong optic but the tint and beam are perfect and brighter than my FW3A. BTW I purchased the Samsung leds

I’m not sure if this is V2 or not but felt the need to post what I’m experiencing. MEOTE may have fixed all the issues. Is there any way of knowing if v2 was release or of I just got lucky

Which LED version of the Meote FM1 did you get?

In my test, the LH351D Meote FM1 is “OK”, the SST20 and XPL-Hi version of Meote FM1 has noticeable beam artifacts (in particular the SST20).

A few months late but, I would have given you one. It really is just an awful shame. It looked and sounded so promising. But that beam and operational difficulties has put it on my “ain’t happening again list”.

Hope their V2 is better designed and implemented or I fear they may get the BLF cold shoulder.
