I dont have a convoy C8 but I am guessing these pills are different. :)
lightme,
I will get back to you on the dimensions thing in a couple days. I've been pretty sick the past 2 days and its like -6 ish here so it has slowed my roll a bit. I'll be back on top of things very shortly though.
I have a few questions, I was going to use a quite 3.04 amp 8 chip driver and a single
Panasonic 18650 B or should I use the Samsung 20 high drains? Well back to my original question , how many 350 mAH Chips can I stack to drive my XML2-U2 1 A realistically on a single cell?
I’m not an expert on this stacking stuffs… but I have few lights that was built by Tom E at around 4- 4.2A
I’ll say that’s a sweet spot for XM-L2-U2 1A on noctigon copper, heck some people even push it higher
it’s depend on what you need it for… is it just for WOW factor or something little less brighter but with decent run time?
Good question I’m thinking something in the middle I’ve done the spring braiding and I am getting the copper pill ,so would the 4.02 amps be a compromise? And what battery should I run in it?
You have me Salvating at the mouth, I can’t wait to see what Pocket rocket it turns out to be! Thank you for all your hard work!
EDIT: I just received my pills and modded 7135 QUITE driver (VOB stacked for me) well his machine was tops notch, he tightened up the threads and took all the slop out of them and increased the bearing surfaces of the pill over the oem for much better heat transfer , this is a prayer answered for me I was pretty bummed of how it performed stock now it throws ! Thanks Vesture_of_blood I need to go play with my light more later all!!!
I also had to change the driver and sink pad also we just used the original ultrafire C12 body was used and all the internal parts where changed out with new electronics which were upgraded to raise out put and the “pill” or pillar Vesture_of_blood custom made replaces the cheaply made aluminum pill/pillar with solid copper which keeps heat from building up around emitter and sink pad and therefore keeping up output for longer periods.Thats just my understanding, I am still fairly new to this so maybe someone else will chime in .Any rate glad you are here on this forum. !
Thanks for the explanation. Upon my reading I have gathered that when you upgrade any light to a higher output you need to look at how to control /pass the additional heat. Glad to be here!
OK… I might have to order one of these lights :money_mouth_face: Thanks!
I got my copper C12 pill long before my C12 from Lightmalls arrived. Today I tried to install the new copper pill and realized that it is the wrong size. It’s not even close. I ordered the C12 from Lightmalls because it was recommended in the forums. Now I have a copper pill that doesn’t fit anything.
Ouchy! I was afraid this could happen, batch to batch, design changes and/or variations. I've been getting burned too much lately with the varieties of C8's - they used to be more standard, now, almost any spec on them can change.
