Funny Thing - A Real "Add or Remove Programs" Entry!

I'm cleaning up an old PC from work for another co-workers personal use. I've been going down through the "Add or Remove Programs" list and removing all unneeded software (and software licensed to the company) and I came across this funny entry:

LOL! If only all software was so descriptive!

i am still on win XP too!!

That explains a lot, kreisler…

JUST KIDDING :)!!

Please, don't make fun of us dinosaurs.

It seems like I've been on XP forever.

If you want you can change some of the strings in the registry for fun!

nothing can beat the good old XP

Visual Studio 2012, yummy.

windows 95 osr 2.1 :stuck_out_tongue:

or windows 3.11

I still run WIN98 on several systems… With WIN98 can still talk directly to the hardware…

Need of a RAM can :stuck_out_tongue:

This entry couldn't have been a "hack". I know the previous users of this PC and they aren't the type to do it, nor computer literate enough to.

Win XP security updates will end in 2014.
Linux supports older hardware no problem. There are newbie friendly distros like mint and even ones designed to look like windows to ease people in with the familiar look.

At the very least only use chrome browser on XP after 2014. Google will provide Chrome security updates on XP at least till 2015.

Not much of an issue here… All my WinDoze systems are “air-gapped” from the outside world…

Could be a hoax since that person has development tools installed. It only takes a minute or so to crank out a Windows Installer that puts whatever you want in that field.

I was the happy user of WinXP too!
Until one day my boss bought me new laptop and there’s no support/driver for Windows XP :frowning:

It’s just the redistributables, that have probably been installed by some other program that requires them. It’s not the development environment.
