Gear for flashlight carriers ....What does that even mean ?

Without being too critical ...is it even English ??

It doesn't describe the category at all and is confusing to me everytime I read it ..

I was wondering why we don't have a knife category or a sub forum ?

Is there any reason BLF doesn't want to pull in members from other interests ..like the EDC or knife crowd ? Doesn't making it easier to navagate bring more interest to the forum ?

Why not rename this section and make another for knives as well ?

A knife and a flashlight…like peanut butter and jam.

non locking, locking, fixed and multi tool. im guessing a camping gear section would be great too. i know a lot of members are in to pressure fuel and other stoves/lamps.

but… this could also bring a huge load to the forum that the servers may or may not be able to handle

i would welcome some new sub forums. i would also like to see a giveaway sub forum.

I’m a knife guy and there are excellent knife forums already.

Knives are a stand alone item with their own infinite realm of discussion, far beyond flashlights. I don’t want to see knives here.

i would not go as far as saying “far beyond flashlights”. but i agree on the infinite realm. same goes for camping gear, guns, watches, computers…

I’m with Pulsar in the give away subforum. It would be both easier to track and better for organizing (give away threads come with new posts all the time, so other threads equally interesting sink to the bottom). I don’t care so much about re-naming the gear one to knives (though it’s what i always check first  ) since there’s not so much activity anyway and then we don’t miss other cool posts.

For me the category is good, because it includes not only knives. Multitools could be posted here and of course the great paracord things of jack the clipper and other members.

It does read sort of funny. More proper english might be “gear for carriers of flashlights” but that sounds kind of funny too. Maybe “gear for flashlight users” is more accurate. “Carrier” almost implies an inanimate container or case rather than a human user. This is all picking nits really.

I tend to agree with those that say leave the gear forum kind of broad. That allows for more variety of content, without burrying it in sub-sub-sub-forums. There could easily be {and already are} entire sites for topics like knives, camping gear, etc. I don’t mind some here, but it is not primary reason why I come to this forum. I am sure the admins want to keep it that way.

I think it should stay broad as well. Although, it might be nice to have an EDC gear sub-forum since those items are often very different. Probably doesn’t matter too much to most people.
