I am curious how the Getian colored LEDs compare to Osram LED options in common flashlights. Better, worse, similar? Ideally, I am looking for a balanced throw and flood option. I find the Osram W2’s to be a bit too focused and throwy.
The Convoy M21A looks like it might be a good option to test with these newer emitters. Thoughts?
A bit unrelevent, but if you are lookong for something with a bigger hotspot than the w2, but the same throw, get the SFT40. The hotspot is a lot bigger, but it has 90%+ of the throw. It has more lumens, and is more efficient.
The LEDs in the page you linked are all multi-die with large die gaps, so the beam in a reflector will be quite nasty.
If you meant the single-die Getian color emitters sold by Convoy, they appear to have the same die shape and size as the Osram W2s, so they should have essentially the beam profile.
If you want a floodier beam, an easy way to do it is just to use a more compact host, or a multi-emitter host.
