Hey guys! I ordered a couple SK-68 clones on eBay to give as Christmas presents, but worried they won’t make it here in time. So I am looking for a link for a US seller of good SK-68s, and I will just add the ones from China to my collection.
I ordered one from USA eBay seller Camping Survival early this year, but wasn’t impressed with it compared to the ones from TomTop, etc. Camping Survivals doesn’t seem to have any more anyway.
Thanks.
EDIT: Just noticed that TomTop has a USA shipping listing for SK-68s on eBay? Anyone have any info on the quality of this batch?
In the past I’ve bought from the BBQBuy product page on Amazon. The lights have all arrived within 1-2 weeks at most, and I’ve submitted three separate orders there. Note that all of those orders have been shipped from China, though, and I guess they might get backed up because of the impending holidays like everyone else.
As for the general quality of the lights I’ve bought there, two of the orders of multiple lights have been Ultrafire clones (SK-6?) with three modes, no mode memory, white tint, good brightness, and decent build quality with good threads (though a somewhat scratchy zoom). The last order included unbranded clones with three modes, a mode memory which always advances to the NEXT mode after the last one (annoying but at least you can set it up to come on high or low as you prefer for next time by advancing through the modes), nasty bluish tint, less good brightness, and so-so build quality (worse threads, but smoother zoom indicating the presence of O-rings there).
I think the problem with that page is you don’t know for sure what you’re going to get, partly because the list of sellers rotates. I plan to place my next order specifically selecting the “BBQBuy” seller. My last order with the less-good ones was from “BestDeal777”, if I remember correctly.
I noted that there’s a seller at that page in California, but the shipped price is around $8. I’d personally sit and wait a bit longer before worrying, and see what you get.
I’ll probably just order a couple from the US tomtop ebay store anyway. You can never have to many SK-68 clones. I have misplaced as many as I have on hand.
Well what do you know, my two SK-68s showed up from BBQbuy today… All I can say is…. YUK :Sp They don’t tail stand. An SK-68 that doesn’t tail stand is such a waste. I will toss them in the drawer just to have. Hopefully the ones I ordered from USA TompTop will be better.
