I have to say that I am not a fan of these lights after seeing one up close. I thought it would be just a different version of my romisen rc-a4. How wrong I was. The light I received is the green ano version from tmart. First impression is that its one of those junk convenient store lights you see on the counter in the styrofoam trays that people buy when they are in a pinch. The ano is horrible and uneven. The machining is rough and the parts look more cast than anything. The threads are just OK. I’m not crazy about the weird tailcap either as the overly fat body ring makes it hard to twist on tight. The beam is absolutely atrocious. Flood mode is OK but spot leaves a perfect die pattern on the wall. The light is really large for its battery type IMO, and just looks frumpy. The only thing I like about this light is that the clip is actually made of spring metal unlike the clip on my well made rc-a4. But hey, I paid three times more for the rc-a4. Ironic. I dislike this light so much that I think I’ll have to bury it in the junk drawer or give it to one of my kids in hopes that they lose it. Maybe its just a fluke but I don’t see the need for me to buy any more of these.
My opinion is, its a flood to throw, won’t be buying. Give me a reflector/optic any day of the week.
Yup. All it took was eight bucks to learn that lesson.
I got one for my baby cousin. He wanted a green flashlight. He gets a kick out of the zoom feature too. It was well worth the $8. I never would have bought this light for me though.
You got off light, I bought a 2*18650 xm-l flood to throw, with obligatory brc3000 cells and straight to dust bin wall wart charger. I forget the exact cost but it was more than eight dollars, more like 20 quid. I keep it to remind me that research is the key….
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. The light wasn’t complete unless it had and orange switch boot. LOL
I think the sipik sk68 is the most popular light on the forum (owned by the most people)

They believe that the world would be a better place if only more people owned the same exact flashlights they do. Admit it, that kind of thinking and behaviour is in our DNA.
How many times a newbie jumps into this forum and asks “what kind of light should get?” and all us zealots jump in trying to evangelize him to getting the the “proper light”
I bought an sk68 only after reading a poll here and seeing that practically everyone owned one. You are right, it is not outstanding in any area, but over all it is one outstanding little light.
I think that a lot of people have them because they are so cheap and can use primaries. I don’t fault anyone for having or even liking them. Hell, p60’s are my favorite design and there are some flashaholics that can’t stand them. To each his own. My money is better spent on another design. I guess zoomies aren’t for me.
Sounds like you really hit a bad batch. Sk68s are some of my fave small lights and were the lights that started me down the long hard flashaholic road!
But there are DEFINITELY junky sk68s, just like there are POS C8s. And sometimes even sk68s from the same dealer in the same order can be trash, but others will be GREAT.

Unless I’m misunderstanding (which could well be the case), better stay away from zoom lights in general if that bugs you. Almost ALL zoom lights show a close-up of the emitter when zoomed out all the way. That’s how you can tell the zoom is at its brightest.
Did you try 14500 batteries? Sk68s with AA batts are pretty darn dismal. Yeah, I would say convenience store light would be about right with a low-power AA battery, but with a li-ion, it’s a whole different ballgame. Then again, with the smanky workmanship on the one you got, I’d be afraid to put any battery it. 
My cheepie xmas gifts this year were 8 ultraok sk68 clones with extension tubes to fit 3 AAs, to bring them up to the voltage of a 14500 — for the li-ion afraid. At the major gift-giving party, I gave one relative a book (MUCH more expensive than the $10 sk68) and not the sk68. He was so upset that I had to give him the worn sk68 from my pocket. (He was also fairly inebriated.) Thought the poor guy would come unglued.

Yeah, I love my sipik sk68. It’s actually my most used light. It’s so bright for being so small. I just put in a nimh aa rechargeable and it’s got at least 100 lumens. All I know is that it’s way more than enough lumens to tailstand it and then read a book in a bedroom. Maybe he just got a bad one. I wouldn’t buy a sipik from tmart because of all the bad things I’ve heard about their sipiks.
I have some and for me it’s not so good but every time I use it when normal people are around they are impressed. The normal lottery ones cost about 5-6$, 3 mode and colored ones are about 7$-10$. Build quality differs a lot, I have even one with a XPE and round hat, no sharp fins. It’s dead reliable. You should gift it to someone and I promise he will like it.
A good 3mode version is probably one of the best lights for the buck, I would recommend it to everyone.
I like the design, it’s so abnormal…
In my winter jacket I have the 18650 version a Sk98 with 3A driver and XML U3, and it makes fun every time to use it. And it’s shorter than a p60 one.
Not to say that it is overkill to put 11$ LED and driver in a 8$ light…
Isn't that because it has aspheric optics?
In any case, the description sounds pretty much exactly like what should be expected from this flashlight. The only thing to be disappointed in is the research.
Complaining about the design, including the green color, orange switch, fat tail cap ring and others doesn't make sense when there's a picture provided by tmart.
I suppose the quality of the anodizing and machining wouldn't show up in pictures, but it's a flashlight that costs $8 including shipping. That's among the most budget of budget flashlights.
Sorry. I should have written (harsh) “review” in the title. I wasn’t expecting a fenix for eight bucks and some change. BTW, I didn’t have a problem with the color and the orange cap wasn’t really a big deal.
bought 5 from fast tech and seems ok. gave all away except one .pretty good with a 14500.
I recently gifted 10 single-mode Sipik SK68s to family members. Had a chance to play with them (erm…I mean test them) before they were given away.
In terms of build quality, all were nicely finished (black anno) with the usual strong tail clips. No issues at all with the tail switches on all copies. Threads were dry when I got them, but quickly went away with some silicone grease. The zoom mechanisms were mostly okay, ranging from loose to tight, but none were deal breakers for me. Emitter tints varied a bit, from slight NW to cool, but no ghastly purples. Only one of them had what appeared to be a speck of dirt on the LED - not a major issue unless you are a white wall hunter with a penchant for staring at zoomed out and magnified emitter shapes.
Tried 14500s in a couple of them…wow! Couldn’t believe how bright they were as well as how far they could throw when zoomed out! Awesome…
All in all, a good value for money flashlight for non-flashaholics

I purchased mine on ebay from Tomtop. You can also purchase from tomtop.com. I was very happy with the quality of my flashlight. I only purchased it because it was inexpensive and found that I kinda like it as far as functionality goes.
Well, now I’m intrigued. Maybe I just have a poorly made light or a fake product. Oh well. I’ll chalk it up to 9 dollars worth of entertainment.
