Got an Eye-Fi - pretty cool!

Hi,

I have several nice point-and-shoot cameras (both an older (huge) and a newer (tiny) Lumix), but I’ve not used them much because it’s such a pain for getting pics off of them.

I’ve been kind of curious about Eye-Fi, but since starting an interest in flashlights (and posting pics), I finally ordered one from Amazon, and received it today, and I have to say, that after using today, it is very cool!

In case anyone doesn’t know what it is, it’s an SDCARD that you can put into a camera, and when you take a picture, it’ll send a copy of the picture over to your computer, to Eye-Fi’s online website, and to several other places like Facebook, Picasa, etc., plus you can get it to send to an Android or IOS (I think) device.

I’ve been using my tablet for pics I post here, so hopefully, I’ll be able to do better ones from now on.

One thing is that they haven’t partnered with Dropbox yet, but I’ve read that it’s possible to configure things so that it’ll automatically transfer to Dropbox.

Anyway, mainly an FYI…

Convenient, if pricey . . . nice!

Hi,

Yes, that (“pricey”) was why I’d been putting off getting one for quite awhile!

The pricey part is making me think about getting an Android camera after they've had more time to mature. What I'd really like it to do is let you use a tablet as a viewfinder and remote. It looks very handy as is though. Every time I pull my card to plug into my computer I think about that wifi card.

Now that would be pretty sweet!

An Android camera would be nice, but cost-wise, I got the smaller Lumix for <$100 last Xmas, and then $26 (Amazon Prime) for the Eye-Fi, so total about $125, and I already had the camera.

The Samsung Galaxy camera:

Is like $400+.

Android was supposedly originally for cameras. I doubt there will be much of a price surcharge if it takes off. From what I've seen, there is a lag time to turn on, and that needs to be reduced to near zero like with other cameras.

My newest nikon does that

Bluetooth camera? Was ~$99 in the Frys Sat ad . . .

I got an Eye-Full today. Waitress at a restaurant with some of the shortest/tightest shorts on the planet… anybody know how to get footprints off a tongue?

Go on...
