I have a gas barbecue grill , I have been using my Skilhunt H15 as well as the Coleman Peak One lantern, for light.
So I am considering an alternative.
I want to use rechargeable cells as the power source, as I don’t have an outlet nearby.
The choices are the clamp-on the handle style, or the table top desk type.
I don’t want to spend much I’d like to be under $20
Here are samples
I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these styles.
So I bought this from GearBest. Bike Handlebar Mount
Today it arrived, I couldn’t be happier. I have the Skilhunt H15 AA/14500 in Neutral White, This device fits both my grill handle and the headlamp.
This is a two clamp design, the single clamp works well for my headlamp, and I’ll the other pieces on my bicycle.
Anything you use while grilling MUST MUST MUST have a natural, high-CRI tint. I built a flashlight just for grilling in the winter months, it was just a P60, with a high cri emitter. I have never used any of the dedicated grill lights, but if they have generic CW emitters, it will be much more difficult to gauge the doneness of the meat.
Agreed, high CRI would be crucial. I don’t know how you feel about headlamps but a high CRI one may be your best option since it’s always pointing where you’re looking. Unfortunately with a $20 budget it’s going to be tough to find.
Armytek has the Tiara C1 Pro v2 XM-L2 (Warm CRI90) on sale at the moment.
As suggested, a headlamp with a high cri nichia would be a good option. It wouldn’t be too difficult to find a cheap option that uses a 3535 emitter and just swap that with a 219b. I made that mod with my headlamp and got great results.
I saw some grills today that had built in LED lights and they were definitely on the cool white side, not good. Also saw an add on grill light that had the same cool white tint. At times I’ve used a neutral light flashlight, but that takes up 1 hand. I suggest you buy a neutral white headlamp. Not only would it come in handy grilling, but for other stuff too when you need 2 hands free.
Very nice set-up. Does the light heat up from the grill? Just wondering if heat or grease will become an issue. I do like the clamp, it would make a nice mount for more than bikes or grills.
