I have finally finished the light. there are some things I would do different and it needs new reflectors because the ones in it are scratched. But it works and for the time being no more changes will be made.

I will get beam shots and take measurements on the weekend

Doesn’t that depend on which Infineon? The 404 is a better performer than the 800, the best Infineon gives slightly better yields than a 404, depends on the light they’re all in just how much you can actually measure, much less see in real world use. The cells still rule the day…

Following the paper trail (specs) is always much different than actual in hand results.

It matters when you are at 80% FET for example, you got also switching losses that add up to conduction losses
This is what does the fake MOSFET likely die it overheats, or at lest significantly heat up the driver

It turned out quite the beast. That was wild how you made the copper heatsink with plates like that, and then you sectioned it with the flats, which made it look fancy. Good work.

This has been a fun build now I want to push the boundaries a bit more. I was playing with it at work and someone in the office thought there was welding being done without curtains. A driver and led upgrade will make me grin even more.

I have a quad with 86mm kaidomain reflectors half done. Going to use xhp35 with a taskled driver. Great white driving light housing is the base of the housing.
Then I have 4 GT reflectors and 4 SBT-90.2 which hopefully I can make it look like a GT.

I didnt have time it was a huge amount of work as it was. my vision was a battery tube sculptured with the dremel to look like it was plaited. I can tie it but I cant draw it so this is how I was going to mark it out. Another idea is to tie it with string them impregnate it with resin to set it in place.

I will cut new reflectors and also put the lower modes into auxiliary S11 reflectors between the main reflectors before I change the battery tube. This heatsink could do with some refining but the concept worked and opens the door to more elaborate designs.
It is an impressive light and turns the afternoon into midday.
