P20 may be the best light in this size class. I can’t think of another I’d rather have, primarily because of the independent switches. It’s just so nice to have full control from the side switch and not have to use my other hand at the tailcap to turn it on/off. I love the dedicated Turbo tailswitch, independent side switch, and performance. I like the side switch UI, battery indicator, ergonomics, build quality, beam, and convenient recharging. The aggressive aesthetic isn’t my thing, but it’s fine. I don’t like how long it takes to charge, not being able to use the tailswitch on standard batteries, and the high price tag.
I didn’t get the full output spec either. The light is rated very generously. It’s a fantastic light for sure and pretty much stands alone in this class.
Yeah I’m not worried about the lower than advertised measurement. I’m sure my amateur grade lumen tube measures below for big throwers. The main thing is, this light measures the same as all the other SBT90 lights I’ve tested so I’m satisfied with it’s performance.
And those independent switches. Just so good.
I agree, non independent tail+sideswitch sucks lol
Yep. I think Acebeam is one of the only ones I know of that has this feature across most of their dual switch lights (the L series for example).
Great light even if overrates.
I remember you did a nice review of the Convoy L7. How does the P20 compare in real world usage? Different weight classes surely, but both are physically long and both have SBT90.2 emitters.
It’s been awhile since I had my L7, but I did get to use both side by site at a Texas Flashlight Club meeting recently. P20 is significantly more ergonomic because it’s lighter and you’ve got full control from the side switch. L7 works better as a club.
So cool you tested every aspect, that’s dedication.
That light should be called the Ace Beam BA1. BA for Bad Ass. It really looks it.
Got a good chance for a test on turbo last weekend. Day and night pics from almost the same spot just behind my van, no change in distance to the top of Glastonbury Tor.
Good of you to charge up Michael Eavis’ solar panels at night too.
