We were “promised Amps” based on the older type LEDs in the test lights. No one could predict that Cree was going to do a major die change, changing the Vf of the new batches of LEDs provided for these lights. Per people who have investigated we got exactly the driver circuitry we agreed to from the final batch of test lights but the LED changed due to a running production change by Cree. Do not blame the people who handled the GB or the light manufacturer for a running change done by Cree and indicate that you feel cheated somehow.

This LED production change info has been repeated often enough so that I wish people would quit their bitching! For $20 toughshitski as nothing is going to change now. If you do not like the final light then sell it to someone who wanted one and missed out or now wants additional lights. Or install an older version of the XM-L2 if you can find one and your current should increase to the same level as the final batch of test lights. I doubt that you can return the light for a refund or start a successful Paypal dispute. There was never a formal contract agreement signed.

I can understand all of the complaints and I can understand all of the complaints about the complaining. A certain spec was published and irrespective of the reason, the specification was not met. Both approximate lumens and approximate current were shown and I believe that testing shows that lumens were met but not current.

I only care about the amount of light emitted out the front - some people may not. I don’t intend to debate the issue.

I get my flashlight today, just few hours ago. Overall I’m very pleased with the light but will do some adjustment to my preference.

My office mate surprises to find how “cheap” this flashlight with decent build and light output. Too bad the GB is over because he wants one now :laughing:

Yes! Just order one without the code. It will be a little more expensive, but considering everything it still will be a good value flashlight.

I forgot to check earlier, but I measured today and found that the BLF X6 light does use PWM to control its output.

The PWM appears to be pretty fast… not quite as fast as the 18.75 kHz qlite drivers, but significantly faster than the 4.5 kHz nanjg drivers. I think it’s somewhere around 12 to 15 kHz, but the hum isn’t loud enough for me to measure it directly. All I can say for sure is it’s somewhere between 9 kHz and 18 kHz, and the speed appears to be the same on all modes (except turbo, which is PWM-less).

It’s fast enough that most people won’t be able to see the pulsing.
