Group Buy-BLF X6-SE OP update-GB over.

I thought I saw them but cannot find them again. Does anybody have the actual dimensions of this unit?

Second: It has been mentioned that this thread has 500+ post but has anybody noticed that this thread has had over 17k views? Truly suprising that we are only at the mark that we are at. The reason that I mention this is because even though a minimum two hundred is a very sigificant number it will surely help keep the cost down by giving the manufacturer greater buying power with their suppliers.

I don’t trust this, last time someone had a group buy like this the vendor changed up at the last minute and it was a fiasco…

Would I like to have a BLF logo…sure…but for some reason after burns on group buy after group buy…I just don’t trust em

My lack of experience on this forums precludes me from forming a negative a opinion out of the gate in regards to group buys.

I can say this though…

I had dealt with chinese manufacturers in a very large scale as far back as 10 years ago. I went through the pain of cheap cheesy quality. It is a learning curve. After a while you develop a knack for being able to “spot” something. That’s what has happenned to me here. As a matter of fact, these Eagle Eyes are making the other budget lights look cheesy to me, and appear more on par with the higher valued brands.

General speaking, the presented build quality shows that this manufacturer only wants to put out a quality unit.

Moreover, speaking of vendors. I placed three orders recently. Banggood, Fasttech, DXListing. I can say the service and response recieved from the first two is as expected. (Shipping is out of their control) Never ever again will I order anything from a DX site.

With all that said…quality manufacture + attentive vendor + good reviews = why not? The worst case scanario is that I buy stock lights instead and we know what they are.

I’m way back there on my original one ordered, #43 on your list.

I understand this. All we can do is wait it out. I think we are all expecting an awful lot for little money. $17 was the original estimate. Might it be at least $25 now? I would still be a buyer at $25 for 3.5 A It would be nice to be a fly on the wall on their end. WHAT are their thoughts?

No dimension is given except there’s a comparison picture of Eagle Eye X6 and Convoy C8 in the below review. X6 looks slightly slimmer than C8:

Will this do? Oh, the lens is 35mm. I just put an UCLp AR lens in mine. Helped, but not as tremendously as in a larger light.
I should also point out that the 1st fin is 4.4mm deep! The fins are exceptional and go a long way towards making this light behave as a much larger light! Also, the depth of the fins is consistent down the length towards the tube, the head tapers down making the fins get shallower. You can see that it’s “square” to the battery tube throughout the finned area in depth. Hope that makes sense.

Just took the bezel off and reflector out, measured depth to the emitter shelf. The star sits on this thick shelf right where the first cut is made to produce the first fin, so the finning is in the perfect area. Well thought out and executed! :wink:

He did say at least Monday before any further info, I’d say guessing random costs doesn’t do much except possibly scare people off or give ideas to the seller before they come up with a cost :wink:

Here’s a visual on the fins and where the emitter shelf starts. This also shows that the “Square” portion of the bezel is where the reflector is, I remember reading about an ideal proportion of 1:1 for the parabolic curve. Maybe that’s why this semi small light throws so well…

Well if they CAN deliver on a BLF etched/silk screened with a 3A~ driver for a decent price then I am all for it…however these things seem to change and the guys that “promise” all this end up changing the rules at the end…OL got burned by this, as many other group buy coordinators

I really hope they deliver…and even at $25 a pop I will figure out a way to get one IF…they truly deliver on what the promise

I very quickly threw together a simulation as to where the star/emitter/reflector sit in perspective to the lights head. I don’t really have the software for this kind of thing so it’s primitive. :stuck_out_tongue:

If I’m not mistaken, this is the first time I’ve seen a light cut the way this one is. Inside the head, in the driver compartment, the normal shelf where the driver sits is of the correct diameter to hold the driver, as one would expect. But then the cut tapers as it goes into the head so that it get’s wide enough at the bottom of the cut (top where the emitter shelf is) for the emitter leads to go to the emitter. Normally they just cut it straight in and use a smaller star. This one uses a screwed down 20mm star, with a 17mm driver. Hence this taper cut. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one done this way, and I’ve modified well over 100 lights. This taper works well with the outside shape of the light, where the fins are gently curved in to meet the battery tube. Form, function, and pleasing aesthetics done by someone who cared enough to get it right.

It’s an attention to detail not normally found in smaller budget lights for sure. I like the use of the 20mm star, more copper when you swap it to a Noctigon. And the location of the star within the head is placed just right for the metal of the head to direct heat towards those fins for dispersal. Again, not normally done in a light costing under $20…or in many other lights at almost any cost for that matter. The screwed down star, the machined emitter shelf, the Omten switch, a lot of attention to detail here.

Whether you want to run it in stock form, or modify it, it’s just really a sweet little light. Happy to have been enlightened and to have found this group buy right off the ground floor as it were.

Can’t wait to see one wearing the BLF Special Edition badge of honor. :slight_smile:

The above sounds quite usable though I would prefer a separate strobe function.
Since I can’t carry a gun where I live, a good strobe can give me a second or 2.
