Well I was shining the light during the afternoon in my room and wasn’t very impressed. It was a bit “oh that’s nice” but that’s it. Now that it’s dark I just shone it at some trees few hundred meters away and was blown away by how bright it was. I quickly turned it off after a bit of playing because I didn’t want to offend any neighbours. I might go back out past midnight for another little blast.

I definitely don’t have any qualms with the build quality of this light. A lot of people have been turned off and disappointed by it but I think it’s a great light and I can’t really fault anything about it. The infamous anodizing is actually insignificantly mismatched.

I am very happy with this light.

the-magnetic ring, charging the magnet, the color of the LED, the surprisingly pure reflector and lens ….

some negatives were only the dark color tube.

the things I’m going to improve his handle of the box and another on / of button

the price is + –5 € more than a Maglite 2-3 D cell led here !!.

What they now do to Promptly Fix/Rectify the anodizing mismatch issues will show what kind of a company AceBeam/SupBeam really is...

Sounds like back peddling. Not all that surprised, when they found out how many are unhappy and how much it would cost to fix it. Basically, they would have to send new lights to everyone. They can't match the old stuff. Anodizing doesn't work that way. To make a color matched light, the components all have to go through the same run in the tanks, or forget it. I wouldn't be surprised at a thing any more, from overseas. I have no faith in what they say or do any more.

Like I said, I wish now that I had never done it, because I can't control what those people do.

This is a pretty amazing light and the technology in it is sweet. I guess it’s a shame that mine is so nicely matched up in the anodizing, because I don’t really care about that. I’ll use it, will probably drop it somewhere along the way and it’ll most assuredly get some dings and nicks in it, at which point the color won’t matter at all. I’m not one of those guys that tosses a light in the bed of the truck to roll around with the bailing wire and farm jacks and stuff, so mine will never get to looking like that, but it will get used!

So, I’ve gotten the opportunity to purchase a light I never would have bought otherwise. And I like it. A lot. So, Thank You!

Has anyone tested the cells after charging in the light?

I just charged mine up using the magnetic lead and wall charger with the Panasonic NCR18650BD 3200mAh cells in the light. Two were at 4.24V, two were at 4.23V.

Overcharging a bit, but at least there doesn't seem to be much variance to the voltage after.

Mine came off 4.17, 4.17, 4.18, 4.19.

Edit: I was using protected batteries, don’t know if battery protection circuit or charger stopped the charging.

Did you let them rest before testing?

Only a couple of minutes went by before I took them out of the light and checked with a DMM. These are brand new cells bought for this light.

Photos didn't capture the grey of the tailcap. It's hard to see the difference between the charcoal grey midsection and the black head without good lighting, but the shiny tube is noticeable outside under ambient lighting in the middle of the night. That surprised me.

Isn’t it really strange that serial number 309 and 311 could be good, and then 312 be a bad one? It was seeming like the difference was with the text change, when they added the ROHS to the label, but that 312 is one of the new text, but the older shiny ano?

My battery tube has the ROHS text, and is matte like the rest of the light. The tail cap has that more black slightly shiny appearance. I don’t see the method in the madness.

Unless…if they had different batches of anodized battery tubes in a box to be laser etched and just grabbed tubes at random out of that box, stuck em in the labeling machine…then it could vary randomly like this. Which would mean their standards are Very sloppy indeed. There should be a linear format to the way these are made, assembled, labeled…a dedicated process. That does’t seem to be the case though.

Odd. Tick yet another box for things I don’t understand.
