[Group Buy Now Opened] Jetbeam RRT01 Flashlight Comeback

I hope so, the guy’s mental tension was so palpable I stopped visiting the thread.

There won’t be any apology for the derogatory remarks either. Or any thanks to anyone here for politely explaining about the holidays or the tracking handover blips.

I’ve learned a while ago that as one of people, people are gonna people…it has helped to mellow out my road rage substantially. As a generally compassionate person, I have also learned that while it’s good to be empathic, it’s also good not to make excuses for the way people choose to behave. That said, I too, am known to be a bit impatient, and ultimately appreciate the understanding and courtesies that have been, are, and will be extended to me.

I used to wait a week or two for Thinkgeek orders to clear customs, before Gamestop bought them and liquidated them (RIP MassDrop, who just got the same from Corsair).

In this day with easy internet and handheld terminals with cell phone access, losing stuff like this for two weeks is rare.

It’s fine now. The shipper finally scanned it after 15 days. I was hoping someone would email them to find out why they’d lost track of it for several weeks.

Just received my 2 RRT-01s (1 of each emitter) today! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but they exude quality.

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your POV), the two lights have very different rotary feel. One of them is sooooo glassy smooth (the Cree in my case) and the other (Nichia) is slightly gritty or grindy feeling and, by comparison, a lot less enjoyable.

I’m not sure which one is more typical or whether my Nichia one just needs to break in with usage. I probably should have just bought one so I wouldn’t know any better! I might just buy more to give away as gifts and keep the smoothest ones for myself hahaha.

I’m not great at tint spotting but the CCT difference between the two is pretty noticeable. If I had to guess, the Nichia feels more like 4k and the Cree is coming in mid 6’s in the middle of the brightness range (rising with output).

Anyone know if I got a dud with the grittier one or whether I just need to give it time to smooth out?

Welcome to BLF. I suspect you can fix it with a good cleaning and lube.
Do a search here…maybe try “superlube” just cuz it’ll hit. Ther’s a ton of info here.

Thanks. I know that some people inject dampening grease through the aperture (Nyogel 767a seems to be recommended for this) but I’m not sure how to clean it without completely disassembling the light.

To be clear, I’m not talking about the threads between head and body tube, I’m referring to the rotary dial/knob itself.

Ahh, sorry. Somebody here probably knows but it’s beyond me.

@Jon_slider here has taken down a few, IIRC. Maybe he might know if the 2020 can be opened up the same way. I’ve discovered my 2020 RRT01 also doesn’t start on the lowest mode, not like the Niteye EYE10 TiC I got about a decade ago.

Just to be aware, it seems there are some issues with customer service. I got a defective RRT01 few weeks ago. It cannot be turned off via rotary switch and flickers extremely in low modes. I wrote via mail and asked for a solution on this, I also sent videos of the issue.

After some replies (was told to test the light after cleaning contacts, which I also showed them in a video in my response) I got no more answer from them since 10 days. (I also asked for an answer few days ago)

Are there any holidays in China that could explain the lack of response or are they just ghosting me? @Jetbeamlight do you know what’s happening here?

Hi Koef3, let me look into that, I get you covered.

1 Thank

Thank you, this would be good.

hi Koef3, is everything alright now?

No, I got no message via mail and no other information like tracking number or something like that. (Order no. 1127)

Quick update: Unfortunately after an email regarding the shipping of a replacement (which was promised), I was ghosted again. I got no tracking number or another information.

Just be aware of this when order, because once you need support, it becomes very difficult. As nice as the lights and the fair price are, it would be nice to have support when you really need it.

5 Thanks

Were they expecting you to return the old defective one?

No. There was no mention of it in any of the mails.
