Cool! While slightly longer, I found 2/3AAA (10290?) NiMH at Batteryspace. Admittedly I’m not sure why you would want to run them, other than the fact that they aren’t as fussy about overdischarging as li-ion cells.

So, you are making a copper body to match the head? Either way, it's tiny and cool looking. I think we should have a modders contest to see how small the smallest light can be made.
Should we put any lumen requirements on that? Maybe 30 lumens for 20 minutes?

It uses the stock Maratac L-M-H driver, although it's almost surely direct-drive on high with the voltage provided by the wee lithium-ion cell.
I don't have the patience or your skills to futz with electronics of this scale. ;)

I haven't heard of anyone cooking one yet, but it could happen.
I would be more worried about the tiny cell and the ~10C current draw on High...there is an expectation of reduced cell life in this application.

I checked the Maratac site and they void the warrantee for 3.7V cell. Any chance you could measure the voltage on high to check the sag? Is there any way to acquire one of these drivers without getting a light? .9V-4.2V input 3-mode drivers are hard to find. Maybe ok with 10180 or 10280 but not 10440.

I used this 12mm driver from dx to repair several aaa lights. It does not show on dx, but it actually says tank007 on the back, and strangely enough it is the same driver that sits in the ultrafire a3. They usually do not blow up with 10440's, and are cheap enough to buy 2 just in case. It has the usual low frequency pwm though.
